MV 4000 no 7171972 MPD Narrative Unit 1 was
reportedly racing a second, as yet unidentified
vehicle on Hammersley EB prior to collision, Unit
2 was traveling in left lane of Whitney Way SB,
Unit 1 ran Stop sign at Whitney and crashed into
passenger side of Unit 2. Both vehicles came to
rest against embankment at SE corner of
intersection. Unit 1s back seat passenger
Rikita Lee ejected and died at scene. Unit 2
operator Brian McNally died from injuries
afterward.

State Journal A second person died late last
week from injuries received in an
alcohol-related, Christmas Day crash on the West
Side that killed a Madison woman, police
said. Brian P. McNally, 26, of Waunakee, died
Friday night at UW Hospital, Madison police
reported Tuesday. McNally was the driver of a BMW
that collided with a Chevrolet Impala driven by
Ian M. Bowers at about 10 p.m. at Whitney Way and
Hammersley Road. Rikita L. Lee, a passenger in
Bowers' car, also was killed. Lee, 21, was thrown
from the car and pronounced dead at UW Hospital
on Dec. 25, police said. Bowers, 19, a soldier in
the U.S. Army who was home in Madison while on
leave from Iraq, faces two tentative charges of
homicide by drunken driving. He appeared in Dane
County Circuit Court on Tuesday where bail was
set at 20,000.

January 5, 2007By Mike Miller The Capital
Times A Madison soldier on leave from Iraq was
charged Thursday with first-degree reckless
homicide, among other charges, for an alleged
drunken driving crash that killed two people and
injured two others on Christmas night. A criminal
complaint filed against Ian Bowers, 19, quotes
witnesses as saying that Bowers was racing
another car just before the accident at the
intersection of South Whitney Way and Hammersley
Road on Dec. 25 about 1015 p.m. Bowers ran a
stop sign at the intersection and his car smashed
into one driven by Brian McNally, 26. One of
Bowers' passengers, Rikita Lee, 21, died in the
collision. McNally, who suffered severe head
injuries, died four days later at a Madison
hospital. The complaint quotes a woman who had
been driving east on Hammersley Road as saying
that two cars came up quickly behind her and
began to tailgate her, and when she slowed and
moved to the right they sped past. One was a
later identified as Bowers' silver 2000 Chevrolet
Impala and the other a darker car with Minnesota
license plates.

Police Licenseless Man Causes Crash Wisconsin

11, 2007 A man without a valid driver's license
drove through a stop sign on the West Side,
hitting a truck and causing it to roll over,
Madison police said. Robert Dale, 25, didn't stop
at a stop sign on Hammersley Road and hit Paul
Wickman, 32, who was driving north on Whitney
Way, police said. Wickman was taken to a local
hospital with non-life threatening injuries. None
of the three people involved in the crash was
wearing a seat belt, according to the Madison
Police Department. It was Dale's second offense
of driving without a valid license, police said,
and Wickman's license had been revoked.
