Last Minutes Status Report
  • There will be close to 3 x 2Mbps Internet links
    from Indonesia in 1996.
  • At least 17 Provinces will be linked through
    Frame Relay (2Mbps) in 1996 (currently only 4
    provinces).
  • At least 2 companies will install a new VSAT
    backbone for data in early 1996.
  • There will be 4-5 major players in providing the
    national data backbone.

Stressful Burden for Networkers
  • 6-8 Seminars / Workshops / Tutorials per month!
  • Many request for concultancy work mainly coming
    from Private and Government Owned Industries.
  • Request for training from many universities.
  • The last few weeks is VERY HECTIC for most
    Indonesian networkers.
  • Not sure how can we sleep in the next months.

  • A total of 108 major nodes.
  • Most of the nodes 87 nodes (80.5) have access to
    leased-line, dial-up, or satellite inter-city /
    regional links.
  • Estimated total user is 10639.
  • Major applications are 4 major electronic mailing
    lists, 14 major newsgroups, numerous WWW Gopher
    servers.
