Investigate The Truth Of Gods Word On
Homosexuality!
PROVERBS 1434 Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a reproach to any people. The New
King James Version, (Nashville, TN Thomas Nelson
Publishers) 1998, c1982.
3
Just When You Thought You've Heard It All
  • In the May 31, 2003, edition of the Concord (NH)
Monitor, Richard N. Ostling reports on a new book
released by Pilgrim Press, the publishing arm of
the Cleveland_based United Church of Christ.
  • The book is written by Theodore W. Jennings, Jr.,
a minister of the United Methodist Church, and
the head of "gay and lesbian studies" at the
Chicago Theological Seminary (a UCC school).
  • The name of the book? The Man Jesus Loved
Homoerotic Narratives -- From The New Testament.
  • The author's contention within this book is "that
Jesus not only approved same sex relationships
but was involved in one himself."

4
The Episcopal Church of New Hampshire ordained an
openly "gay" homosexual man to be "bishop
coadjutor."
  • Note These Facts About This Man
  • The new "bishop," V. Gene Robinson, was once
married, but left his wife of 10 years for a man.
  • When asked about his previous marriage to a
woman, Robinson said that he "answered God's
call to acknowledge myself as a gay man.
  • My wife and I, in order to KEEP our wedding vow
to 'honor each other in the Name of God,' made
the decision to let each other go.
  • We returned to church, where our marriage had
begun, and in the context of the eucharist,
released each other from our wedding vows, asked
each other's forgiveness, cried a lot, pledged
ourselves to the joint raising of our children,
and shared the Body and Blood of Christ."
  • Robinson went on to say doing that was "the
biggest risk of my life," but it "won the hearts
of my daughters, whom I feared losing,
  • Later, the love of a wonderful partner, with whom
I've made a home for the past 13 years."

  • Robinson went on to say doing that was "the

of my daughters, whom I feared losing,
  • And Later, the love of a wonderful partner, with
whom I've made a home for the past 13 years."
  • In yet another example of the perversion of
Scripture, we have a man actually claiming God
wanted him to publicly announce his homosexuality
so he could continue to serve Him in the church
in a more open and effective manner.

6
The Blasphemy Of Jesus By The Mr. Jennings And
The Homosexual Community
  • The contention that Jesus "not only approved same
sex relationships but was involved in one
himself" goes far beyond the absurd and clearly
    into outright blasphemy.
  • Jesus was a man who lived without sin (2 Cor.
    521 Heb. 415 726 1 Pet. 222 1 John 35),
but to claim He was involved in a homosexual
relationship is to make the claim that Jesus
    sinned!
  • As one who lived under the Old Law, Jesus was
constrained to keep it perfectly to be without
sin, and yet that Law stated,
  • "If a man lies with a male as he lies with a
woman, both of them have committed an
abomination. They shall surely be put to death
their blood shall be upon them." (Lev. 2013)
  • If Jesus participated in such behavior, will Mr.
Jennings admit, then, that Jesus died on the
    cross because He sinned?
  • Will Mr. Jennings say that the Son of God sinned
and, therefore, died because of His own sins, and
    not for ours?

7
Further .
  • His basis for this contention that Jesus was
'actively gay'? Are Based On Two passages (John
    1323_25 2120)!
  • Somehow, he gets out of these passages that Jesus
and the unnamed disciple were carrying on a
    homosexual sinful relationship.
  • Let's read them
  • John 1323_25 "Now there was leaning on Jesus
bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.
Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to ask who
it was of whom He spoke. Then, leaning back on
Jesus breast, he said to Him, Lord, who is
    it?
  • John 2120 "Then Peter, turning around, saw the
disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had
leaned on His breast at the supper, and said,
"Lord, who is the one who betrays You?"

8
DID YOU GET IT!!!
  • Did you find a homosexual relationship in there
    anywhere?
  • Well, Mr. Jennings did!
  • Richard Ostler writes, "As Jennings imagines it,
this disciple was 'lying in (on) Jesus's lap
that is, snuggled up to Jesus.'
  • Jesus 'loved' all his colleagues, but Jennings
thinks this one friendship was 'expressed by
physical and personal intimacy what we might
today suppose to be a homoerotic or a 'gay'
    relationship.'
  • Most likely it was 'sexual in character,' he
says, though the Bible doesn't describe the
'specific practices' the pair used to 'celebrate'
    physical intimacy."
  • If such words do not utterly repulse you, I
    honestly don't know what would.

9
HEED THE WARNINGS OF SCRIPTURE!
  • As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of
these things in which are some things hard to be
understood, which they that are unlearned and
unstable wrest, as they do also the other
scriptures, unto their own destruction 1 Peter
    316
  • The King James Version, (Cambridge Cambridge)
    1769.

10
DOES THE GREEK IMPLY SUCH BEHAVIOR?
  • Mr. Jennings apparently is no Greek scholar.
  • If he wanted to use the passages in the Gospel of
John to identify a relationship that was as he
    describes a 'homoerotic relationship,' then
surely the words used in Scripture would have
    revealed this, right?
  • But they do not! When John wrote that this
disciple leaning on Jesus' bosom was the one
"whom Jesus loved," the word he used in both
passages was agapa,w (agapao), which means "to
love (in a social or moral sense)." Strong's
  • It is also defined as "to have love for someone
or something, based on sincere appreciation and
high regard _ to love, to regard with affection,
    loving concern, love." Louw_Nida Lexicon
  • This is not the word one would use if he meant to
describe the sexual kind of love.
  • That word is eroj (eros). Apparently, Mr.
Jennings forgot to note that. Or maybe he ignored
    it, too.

11
OTHER OPEN HOMOSEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS IN THE
BIBLE???
  • And if that wasn't enough, Richard Ostler points
out that Jennings has found other 'homoerotic
relationships' in the Bible that millions of
people have missed for almost two millennia.
  • Ostler writes, "Jennings's related contention
that Jesus approved same sex couples stems from
the healing of the centurion's servant (Matthew
    85-13).
  • Jennings contends that the servant was the
centurion's 'boyfriend' and Jesus didn't denounce
    their relationship."
  • In Luke's account (71-10) we find the servant
was "dear to him." (v. 2)
  • But, again, this is not the word that would in
any way indicate a "homoerotic relationship." The
word translated as "dear" simply means
"pertaining to being of considerable value or
    worth." Louw_Nida
  • This servant was considered a valuable person to
the centurion, and to say that he was anything
more than that is a perversion of the text.

12
IT WILL GROW WORSE AND WORSE!!!
  • To further the shame of it all, religious
organizations such as the United Church of Christ
not the "church of Christ" of the Bible, the
Episcopal Church, and the United Methodist Church
have all endorsed, in one way or another, the
homosexual behavior of its members and now
    their leaders.
  • This is only one more step in the long path of
digression and error that began many hundreds of
years ago when men were not satisfied with the
pure and undefiled word of God and started down
    the path to destruction.
  • It will only get worse as the years go by, and
the teachings and practices within these human
originated organizations will only become more
ungodly and blasphemous, claiming to be of God
even as they bring shame and reproach upon His
    holy name.

13
Mr. Jennings And Mr. Robinson Know The Error Of
There Ways !
  • Gene Robinson who was up for election in the
Episcopalian church to be a bishop in New
Hampshire as of June 7th, 2003 stated
  • Robinson told CNN on Tuesday the 10th of June
that this movement is no different than putting
    women into leadership roles.
  • He said there are verses in the Bible that speak
against that as well. He then adds that the
    church is changing things.
  • He is basically arguing that they have broken
Gods law on allowing women to serve (I
    Corinthians 111 1434-35, and I Timothy
211-12), therefore it is no harm to do it again.

Can the civil government make a law on same sex
marriages that would affect the church?
  • Christians are commanded to obey civil
    government, with one exception
  • Obey civil law (Romans 131-5 and I Peter
    213-16).
  • Unless civil law conflicts with divine law (Acts
    413-21 526-29).
  • Christians must stand and preach against sin (of
which homosexuality is) regardless of the law
  • II Timothy 42
  • Acts 2026-27
  • The church cannot change doctrine the church
must obey the doctrine of Christ
  • Christ is the head of the church (Ephesians
    122-23 523).
  • The church must follow the words of Christ (John
    1248).

20
In Conclusion .
  • The time has come and still is when they will not
endure sound doctrine (II Timothy 43-4).
  • The worlds popular opinion does not change
Gods revealed truth (I Corinthians 318-19).
  • If we are followers of Christ we will be sure to
stand on the unpopular side of this and other
    issues (Luke 626).

inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived

adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of
themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor
covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor
extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
And such were some of you but ye are washed, but
ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the
name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our
    God.
