Title: AMS02 Functional Integration Test FIT

1
AMS-02 Functional Integration Test (FIT)
  • P. Nemeth/LM

2
Objective
  • The AMS-02 Functional Integration Test (FIT) is a
risk-mitigation test designed to exercise the
avionics and ground segments of the experiment in
    the ISS and STS environments
  • FIT will utilize the PTCS and CITE facilities
    within the SSPF
  • FIT will utilize the AMS-02 front-end avionics
crates on table-tops (not the entire payload)
  • FIT will integrate the flight segment consisting
    of
  • AMS-02 avionics hardware and ACOP/LFM
  • ISS and STS primary CDH interfaces
  • The integrated flight and ground segments will be
used to test most communications paths and
command and data formats in the AMS-02 system
from end to end (albeit local to KSC)

3
FIT Philosophy
  • FIT testing is broken into two test setups, one
for STS and one for ISS
  • Both setups will utilize
  • Qualification Unit J-Crate (experiment front-end
interface for command and data handling)
  • Low fidelity Model AMS Crew Operations Post
    (ACOP)
  • Engineering Unit Power Distribution System (PDS)
  • All testing is to be performed at KSC, no
requirement for remote data routing (tapes will
be available post-test for further remote testing
    as desired)

Status
  • Kick-off TIM at KSC was held February 11, 2004
  • Test presently scheduled for January 2005
  • KSC monitoring potential conflicts with Return to
    Flight Activities
  • CITE funding issue appears resolved for FIT and
    pre-flight
  • PDS EU will be available for January test
however, will only contain Side A
