    participating DOTs and universities by enhancing
    communications, education, technology transfer,

WASHTO X To Goals
  • Provide funded study to broaden and enhance
    communications among WASHTO State DOTs, Federal
    and Local transportation agencies, universities
    and other national and regional organizations.
  • Broaden access to and improve the quality and
    quantity of information exchange, education,
    personnel expertise, professional development,
    and technology transfer for all current and
    potential users.
  • Assist in the formulation of a strategic
    direction and plan to meet the needs of all
    current and potential users.

PRINCIPAL GOAL OF STUDY
  • To provide a low cost opportunity for WASHTO
    State DOTs, FHWA offices, and local
    transportation agencies to participate in an
    expanded telecommunications program featuring
  • Information Exchanges Among Transportation
    Professionals, Officials, Universities, LTAP
    Centers, and Associates. (PEER-X)
  • Information Exchanges on a Variety of Technical
    Topics. (INFO-X)
  • Transportation Information Exchanges on Policy,
    Program, and Procedure Topics and Issues.
    (TRANS-X)

    state DOTs in the WASHTO Region.
  • Measure Percentage of WASHTO State DOTs
    actively participating in the pilot.

  • Activity Incorporate the most appropriate
    meeting formats, agenda topics, number and mix of
    participants, proper videoconferencing etiquette,

    program as shown in user surveys.

    resources beyond state DOTs into its programs.

    nation, especially universities, FHWA, NHI,
    national non-profit transportation organizations

  • Measure Annual briefing on coordination and
    coordination opportunities with external
    organizations.
  • Level of funding for WASHTO-X at the end of the
    two year period from legislative, private, and
    non-profit sources.

    available communication technologies.
  • Activity Evaluate and incorporate newly emerging
    technologies as appropriate into the Trans-X and
    Info-X programs to enhance the program.

    being used successfully in Peer-X, Program-X, and
    programs outside of WASHTO-X.

    improvement at the end of the pilot.

    final report. Level of interest of WASHTO states
    to continue participation in the program.

  • WASHTO X Study offers opportunity to Develop
    Partnerships and Working Relationships with other
    Transportation entities (Federal, State, Local
    Universities, Public Professional Associations,
    and Industry).
  • Enhanced opportunities to develop and acquire
    more comprehensive and broader based programming
    for a diversity of users/ clientele.
  • Broaden base of support technically and
    financially.
