Role of Regional Coordinator (Terms of Reference)
  • Objectives Deliverables - Summary
  • Vibrant and active RN oversight over ICT4D in
    the region, build RN mailing list, conduct
    regional consultations, defining and implementing
    Regional Workplan
  • New GKP members / GKP Membership Committee
    identify, engage and recruit new members from the
    region (focus on Private and Government sectors),
    represent the region in the GKP Membership
    Committee
  • Regional implementation of GKP Strategy 2010
    defining and implementing Regional Workplan as a
    tool to implement Strategy 2010 under its pillars
    of Sharing Knowledge and Building
    Partnerships and thematic areas of Resource
    Mobilisation, Poverty Reduction, Access to
    Knowledge, Education, and defining programmatic
    activities, corresponding budgets and
    fundraising, and reporting on the Regional
    Workplan
  • New (regional) partnerships - act as broker for
    knowledge, services, resources and relationships
    in region, nurture and foster MSPs at regional
    level among GKP members, and between GKP members
    and non-members
  • Link regional and global dimensions of GKP -
    provide regional inputs into global GKP
    Programmes and activities, act alongside GKPS as
    communication link between regional and global
    discussions and debates, foster GKP agenda at
    regional level and give feed-back on members
    work, priorities, interests, needs and offerings
  • Routine Tasks
  • To represent GKP regionally and give GKP
    briefings as and when needed
  • To gather regional content (e.g. regional issues,
    activities and opportunities) for GKP PARTNERS
    newsletter and submit to GKPS every two (2)
    months
  • To maintain the regional ICT4D Calendar of Events
  • To communicate and coordinate with GKPS on a
    regular basis

Reduction.
To support innovative projects, we offer
  • Project Development Seed Funding for project
    viability studies
  • - Active assistance to apply for donor funding
    for implementation
  • - Use of GKP brand and channel to relate project
    progress
  • - Eligibility for Showcasing Award upon
    successful completion
  • - Prospect of scale-up as a global best practice
    in K4D/ICT4D
  • - Inclusion in GKP registry of projects to inform
    global K4D/ICT4D community

Regional Partnership Programmes (RPPs)
  • Builds capacity of Regional Coordinators (RC) to
    manage and develop the GKP Regional Network (all
    GKP members within a region) and providing tools
    and support to activities.
  • RC training - interpersonal and management
    activity planning project management, reporting,
    monitoring and evaluation partnership building.
  • Tools/Support Central Programme Coordination
    (GKPS) and seed funding (Project Development
    Fund).
  • RCs prepare Regional Workplan to monitor and
    evaluate Regional Network development.
  • Partnership Projects within a region are in the
    Regional Workplan. GKPS supports these through
    the RC.
  • RCs also conduct Membership Outreach - engaging
    members and non-members in Partnership Projects
    nurturing new members and cultivating potential
    members.

Regional Workplan
  • The Regional Workplan (RWP) provides the
    framework for RN activities.
  • Under RCs lead, the Regional Workplan is
    formulated and implemented by the RN members and
    other regional partner organisations.
  • The Regional Workplan contains programmatic
    activities, such as
  • events
  • research programmes
  • regional advocacy
  • publications
  • capacity building
  • GKP Project Development Fund
  • A total of USD 350000 (7 x USD 50000) for
    2006-2007 earmarked to implement Regional
    Workplans
  • GKPS helps RCs vet submission of project
    proposals with funding requests
  • RC, GKP members and partner organisations
    expected to raise additional funds from other
    sources, as GKPs funding for RWP will always be
    partial.

    strategy and the strengthening of the regional

  • 1. Proposing potential GKP members in Africa,
    particularly those from the Private and Public
    sectors
  • - please fill up the New Member Nomination form
    in your meeting packet
  • 2. Liaising with UNECA to submit your project
