  • The COMET Program has employed various media for
    producing operationally oriented distance
    learning training materials for meteorologists
  • Web-based training has been offered for the past
    four years from the Meteorology Education and
    Training Website
  • Beginning in 1999 we expanded our Web-based
    training to include "Webcasts"

Whats a Webcast?
  • A Webcast is a presentation made available over
    the Internet without requiring lengthy downloads
  • Instructional Webcasts offer the benefit of
    either live or on-demand multimedia presentations
  • to an audience of any size at any time
  • Webcasts use Internet "streaming" technologies
  • deliver long media files a little at a time
