  • Frequent illness
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Panic attacks
  • Anger
  • Apathy

Typical causes of stress for college students
often include
  • Finances
  • Academics
  • Parental expectations
  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Time pressures
  • Unrealistic expectations
  • Change in sleep and eating habits

So, what can be done?
Well, there are two options

Give way to counterproductive strategies such as
  • Using tobacco, alcohol and/or drugs
  • Overeating
  • Isolation
  • Overspending
  • Procrastinating
  • OR

Choose these productive strategies
  • Take care of your mind and body with proper rest,
    food and exercise
  • Consider relaxation techniques such as yoga, tai
    chi, meditation and prayer
  • Become more realistic with your expectations
  • Create a support network of friends and wise
    council
  • Develop a time-management plan of action that
    includes time for fun and relaxation
  • Nurture your spiritual self
