  Church.
• Reaffirmed Catholic teachings that has been
  questioned by the Protestants
• Stopped much of the corruption in the church
  (indulgences)
• Ordered all clergy to be educated at a seminary

Spreading Catholicism

• The Church tried to get more converts and
  strengthen the Church
• Ignatius Loyola started the Jesuits
• Spread Catholicism
• Preach to the poor
• Set up schools and universities
• Sent missionaries around Europe

• The Catholic Reformation DID strengthen the
  Catholic Church
• It DID NOT end Protestantism
• Europe became divided into a Protestant north and
  a Catholic south, which is still true today.
