What is Mustard Seed Ranch?

• 501C3 nondenominational childrens ministry
• Our Mission Plant seeds in the hearts of
  children by providing hope and healing through
  spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical
  support while meeting the needs of their social
  development. We hope to reintergrate healthy
  young Christian individuals into our society who
  are equipped to make a positive impact in our
  community.
• Homes will consist of House parents with a
  maximum of eight children per home. Children
  will come here and live. They will adhere to to
  the house rule provided by the house

Is There a Need?

• Tennessee Department of Childrens
  services responds to over 37,000 reports
• of child abuse and neglect each year.
• Every day in Tennessee, more than 100
  children are reported abused or neglected.
• On average, child abuse is reported every
• 10 seconds in the U.S.
• Approximately 3 million possible maltreatments
  happen each year, but the actual rate of child
  abuse is estimated to be 3 times greater than
  reported.
• Four children die every day in this country as a
  result of child abuse.

• 4,222 reported cases of child abuse (05-06)
  1,304 reports in Putnam County 06
• 616 children in DCS custody
• 506 children in Foster Care
• A higher percent of children remaining in
  state custody than the state average
• A slightly higher child abuse rate than the
  state average
• The most recent census showed over 5000
  children in our area living with their
• grandparents
• There are app. 400 children living with a
  relative being helped by the UCDD

What type of children will we accept?

• Male or female children between the ages of 6-17
  years of age.
• IQ greater than 70
• Capable of living in a family setting
• No active suicidal or homicidal threats
• No current drug or alcohol dependencies
• Family and child make commitment to ranch
