General Objective
  • To speed up an effective joint response from TB
    and HIV/AIDS Programs to the tuberculosis
    epidemic associated with HIV in the Americas, by
    facilitating
  • information exchange and
  • experiences among Programs.

Specific Objectives
  1. To present the final version of the documents,
    Building Blocks Comprehensive-Care Guide for
    People Living with TB/HIV Co-Infection in Latin
    America and the Caribbean and to receive
    feedback on it.
  2. To discuss the development of policies on TB/HIV
    at the national and Regional levels.
  3. To evaluate and make recommendations on
    collaboration strategies between TB Programs and
    HIV/AIDS Programs, at the country level.

Expected Results
  • To have reviewed, improved and approved the
    proposed final version of the document Building
    Blocks Comprehensive-Care Guide for People
    Living with TB/HIV Co-Infection in Latin America
    and the Caribbean.
  • To have discussed proposals for Regional
    adaptation of the document Guidelines for
    Implementing Collaborative TB and HIV Programme
    Activities (WHO/ CDS/ TB/ 2003.319), with a view
    to future implementation.

Expected Results
  • To have discussed plans for joint activities
    between TB Programs and HIV/AIDS Programs aimed
    at better control of co-infection in the
    countries of the Region.
