• Contain Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen in a 121
  ratio
• Ex. CH2O , C6H12O6

• Type of molecule found in all living things.
• Provide quick energy.
• Provide structure.
• Raw Material for constructing other organic
  molecules

• Simple Sugars

• Glucose
• Straight chain Ring shaped forms
• Main Fuel Supply for Cell Work
• Fructose

Dissacharides(two sugar units)

• Double sugars.
• Two monosaccharides bonded together by
  dehydration synthesis (remember condensation
  reaction loss of a water molecule)

General Property Of Carbohydrates

• Almost all carbs are hydrophilic, so they can
  dissolve in water
• B/C of Hydroxyl groups in sugar units
• (Cellulose Starch ARE SO LARGE that they DO NOT
  dissolve in water)
