• Located in the heart of Germany, Marburg an der
  Lahn is a small, lively and safe medieval town
  with a long university tradition.
• Traditional houses populate Marburg as they above
  the valley of the Lahn River. The population of
  Marburg is approximately 80 000, ¼ if which are
  students.

• Philipps-Universität Marburg
• Philipps-Universität Marburg is one of the oldest
  German universities, founded in 1527.
• The university is home to 19 000 students and is
  located close to boutiques, restaurants, and
  movie theatres.

Program Overview

• Hessen International Summer University (ISU)
• The ISU program is designed for students,
  researchers and teachers, as well as for people
  working in the fields of politics, economics,
  culture and media who want to learn more about
  German and European culture, economy and politics
  and learn the German language or refresh their
  German by participating in an intensive language
  course.

Credit Transfer Information

• The courses in this program have been
  pre-approved for credit by the Faculty of Arts.
• It is the responsibility of the student to speak
  with their faculty advisor about credit transfer.
• Credit transfer is done by the Faculty and is not
  guaranteed.

Accommodation

• Students have a single room in one of the
  university dormitories.  The dorms are situated
  outside the centre and can easily be reached by
  local bus. In the room there is a washing
  facility, and there are common bathrooms, showers
  and a kitchen. You can also find laundry rooms in
  every dormitory building. Bed sheets will be
  provided, but you should bring your own towels.
  You will receive your room assignment on the
  arrival day.

• Cost to the U of A 150.00 CND
• Application fee
• Cost to Philipps-Universität Marburg 1,900
  (euros)
• Tuition, cultural excursion program, and
  accommodation.

Application Process

• Attend one of the mandatory group advising
  sessions for Summer Abroad in Germany.
• Submit completed application to Education Abroad
  Program by March 16th, 2008.
• If you are selected to participate in program you
  will then be required to complete the application
  to Philipps-Universität Marburg

Application Requirements

• GPA requirements
• 2.7 current
• 2.5 cumulative
• If you are in the Faculty of Science you must
  have completed 15 of course work at the time of
  application.
