Building Collaboration

• Collaboration working together
• Means not rebuilding the wheel
• Has become easier with the advent of the Internet
• Why do people do it? Should we do it? What are
  the barriers to collaboration?
• Stranger danger, needle in a haystack, knowledge
  is power, not invented here
• Collaborative tools social software
• Blogs, wikis, forums, IM, chat, mailing lists
  (?), folksonomies, peer-to-peer etc.
• Some things work (Wikipedia) others dont

  a collaborative tool to discuss CMS

• Peer Group established, worked on areas like
  licence and policies
• Early days, not really out yet
• Areas on CMS, Intranets, VLEs
• Used for IWMW 2006

  allocation sheet in packs
• 2 question sheets 2 different outward
  perspectives on collaboration
