Your Academic Performance Affects Your Financial
Aid
  • When you do not meet satisfactory academic
performance you may be put on probation or
    suspension.
  • Using the Center for Student Progress can
significantly enhance your ability to perform at
    or above standard.

4
Enhancement Assistant
  • There are 3 Enhancement Assistants in the Office
of Student Diversity Programs. These people are
there to guide you to resources that can help you
to be successful on this campus.
  • You may reach them by calling (330) 941-3161.

5
Study Groups
  • Dont try to do this thing alone.
  • Partner up with others and study together.
  • Two brains are better than one.
  • Four eyes and ears are better than two.
  • We are all in this thing together so lets join
    forces.

6
Dont Give Up
  • Its when things go wrong that you must not quit.
  • We represent a people who survived slavery and
second class citizenship, surely we can survive
    the educational process!

7
Take a sheet of paper for each class on your
schedule.
  • Write the first class being studied at the top of
the page and answer the above nine questions with
    respect to that particular class.
  • Once you have answered the above nine questions -
in writing, you should have a good idea of what
you must do in each class to make it through the
    semester successfully.
  • These responses should form the basis for the
learnings and personal adjustments you must make
    to be successful this semester.

8
Face the Facts
  • The first basic learning is that you cant wait
until there is a problem to start performing well
    in the class.
  • You should always "Face the Facts.
  • Regularly review and evaluate where you are in
    each class.
  • Determine the personal adjustments you must make
    right now.
  • Write them down on a separate sheet of paper for
    frequent review.

9
WAKE UP!!!Be Responsible
  • The second basic learning is that you must take
full responsibility for all aspects of your
present life in order to change them.
  • This is your "wake up call."  If you keep doing
what youve always done, youll keep getting what
    youve always gotten.
  • Once you take full responsibility for every
aspect of your life, you can ask yourself, "What
were the thoughts, habits, and associations that
brought about the results I am now experiencing?"
  • For example, your challenge may be tardiness. You
are always late for everything. Ask yourself,
"What happens when I am late?" Write it down.

10
Dont waste time fighting alligators. Drain the
Swamp!
  • "What does not happen when I am late?
  • Write that down also.
  • List what happens when you are on time.
  • Which is better?
  • Rather than blaming other people, circumstances,
or conditions for your present situation, take
responsibility for finding a ways to overcome in
    spite of them.

11
If you dont fix it, it will stay broken.
  •  The third basic learning is for things to get
    better, you must get better.
  • Recognize and acknowledge your situation.
Determine the areas you need to work on to get
    better.
  • Commit to do the work.
  • Do it until it is done.

12
There is Power in Prayer
  • ---Prayer for growth and improvement, Help me to
be better than I have been. Help me to be as good
as I can be. Help me to be as great as you want
me to be. In your name, Father. So be it, Amen.
