Welcome to Portland and the SC09 Education
ProgramWe plan to start promptly at 830 AM
2
Welcome to the SC09 Conference
  • The conference welcomes a broad spectrum of
attendees from all professions related to HPC,
    including corporate, research, and educational
institutions. Four Communities Programs have been
developed to improve the SC conference experience
and provide you with new insights into RD
    efforts in high performance computing,
networking, data, and related activities and
their applications to science and engineering.

Welcome to the SC Education Program
  • A year-long program to support sustained
    integration of computational science resources,
tools and methods into teaching and learning in
all subjects at all levels of learning.
  • We will keep you informed as opportunities for
    engagement become available.
  • We ask that you keep us informed of your
challenges, your progress, and any materials you
have to share with the community.
  • Please help convey the value and impact of the SC
Conference to your students and colleagues!

29
Tools and Examples
  • One final way to look at the agenda which tools
    and methods are being applied
  • Wide range of approaches
  • General purpose Excel, Vensim, MATLAB,
    Mathematica
  • Discipline oriented applications e.g.
    bioinformatics, computational chemistry, COMSOL
    multi-physics
  • Should look over the agenda and see if there are
sessions relating to particular tools that may be
    of interest to you
