Introduction
  • The Password Security interface enables a user
to update the password of his/her cPanel account.
A strong password is essential for keeping a
    cPanel account secure.
  • The password of a cPanel account can be updated
by hosting providers by using the Password
Modification interface in WHM. WHM gtgt Home gtgt
    Account Functions gtgt Password Modification
  • If you want to change your cPanel accounts
password, you need to enter the required/desired
information. Click Change your password now!
Alternatively, you can use the feature, Password
    Generator.
  • It needs to be mentioned here that you have to
enable Digest Authentication when using Windows
7, Windows 8, Windows 10, or Windows Vista. You
have to access Web Disk over a clear text and
    unencrypted connection.

Creating a Strong Password
  • It is important to create a strong password for
ensuring the security of your account. In this
context, you need to ensure the following
  • The use of different passwords for all your
    important accounts.
  • The use of a combination of letters, symbols, and
    numbers in the password.

5
Password Generator
  • The Password Generator is a feature that
generates secure passwords that prove to be
challenging for malicious users to guess.
  • The Password Generator feature could be used in
any interface which displays it. A new window
appears when Password Generator is clicked. This
window contains a generated password that is in a
text box. Continue to click Generate Password
until a satisfactory password gets generated.

uppercase letters, lowercase letters, or symbols.

External Authentication
  • The system administrator might let users access
    cPanel with external authentication credentials,
such as cPanelID, Google Accounts, WHMCS, or the
portal of your hosting provider. This
functionality aids in reducing the number of
passwords that need to be remembered.
  • The tab for External Authentication lists the
    credentials of OpenID Connect-compliant identity
providers. These can be used to log in to Webmail
and cPanel. This section of the interface can
also be used for linking new credentials or for
    unlinking the existing credentials.
  • In the context of hosting providers, the most
efficient service providers, such as HTS Hosting,
ensure that they deliver high quality of service
at affordable prices. That is the reason their
services are well-known as the Best Linux Shared
Hosting or as the Best Windows Dedicated
Hosting, or as the Best Cloud Hosting, etc.

9
External Authentication (Continued)
  • Some important points with regard to External
    Authentication are mentioned below.
  • This section will only appear when the server
administrator has configured at least one
    external authentication module.
  • Only those external authentication identity
providers are displayed by this interface that
the hosting provider has selected in the Manage
    External Authentications interface in WHM.
  • You shall be allowed to register for an account
by most identity providers, as part of the
    authentication process.
  • One or more external accounts can be linked to
one or more cPanel accounts, Webmail accounts, or
    WHM accounts.

10
Linking an Account
  • The following steps need to be carried out for
linking a cPanel or Webmail account to
    credentials at an external authentication
    identity provider
  • Click the External Authentication tab.
  • Click Link Account next to the identity
providers name. This results in a new login
interfaces emergence for that identity provider.
  • Enter the requested username, password, and
required credentials for that identity provider.
This step is skipped by the interface if you are
logged in to that identity provider.
  • Confirm allowing the provider linking to your
    cPanel or Webmail account.
  • Confirm linking your cPanel account to the
    authentication credentials of the provider.

11
Unlinking an Account
  • Click Unlink Account next to the appropriate
    account for unlinking external authentication
identity provider credentials from an account. A
new interface will appear, which will ask for
    confirmation regarding unlinking an account.
