Title: How Holiday Clubs and Children's Parties be more inclusive?
1How Can Holiday Clubs Childrens Parties Be
More Inclusive?
2Social engagement is extremely important in a
childs development. So, what is it like to reach
out to a child with additional needs?
3Lets look at some practical examples of how we
can successfully get all children involved with
activities such as holiday clubs, childrens
parties and summer holiday camps
4Involve an Inclusion Leader, or SENCO
The role of an inclusion leader, or Special
Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCO) is a very
important one. They can help us to understand the
experiences of a child, and why it might be
difficult for them to participate.
5Safeguarding a childs additional needs.
There are other considerations to take into
account. Some children for example will need help
with toilet arrangements. In such cases,
applicable guidelines must be followed to protect
the child.
6Familiar activity engagement approach
Learning can be fun and inspiring when we are
engaged. This applies to all children, regardless
of their needs.
7Inclusivity and care make a difference
Providing care and inclusivity for children helps
everyone at holiday clubs, camps and childrens
parties feel accepted and part of a group.
8A culture of care, support and inclusivity can
result in an amazing experience, one that can be
truly transformative for all.
