How can you Drive a Car Safely in Foggy Climate

Description:

It can never be easy to drive a car, especially when the fog rolls in. A foggy climate is dangerous for both new and experienced drivers. Because fog has the potency to reduce visibility significantly. You can’t stay distracted while driving in fog. Besides that, you should drive at normal speeds, keep your vehicle’s fog light on, take advantage of your windshield wipers, maintain longer braking times, and skip cruise control in order to drive safely in the densest fog. ‘Don’t drive’- is the best advice for driving in a foggy climate. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Title: How can you Drive a Car Safely in Foggy Climate

1
HOW CAN YOU DRIVE A CAR SAFELY IN FOGGY CLIMATE?
2
Depending on weather conditions, fog is
essentially a cloud sitting at ground level.
3
Generally, fog contains liquid water droplets,
but when it is very cold out, icy fog can form.
4
This fog is even more dangerous than water-based
fog because it can lead to ice accumulation on
the road.
5
If you are traveling any significant distance,
you might drive into a wall of fog unexpectedly.
6
Therefore, it is imperative to follow the best
driving practices when driving through fog.
7
SLOW DOWN
Whenever the weather is poor, your first reaction
should be to slow down.
8
Heavy fog can make it difficult or impossible to
tell what is happening down the road in front of
you.
9
Check your speedometer frequently, as fog impairs
the ability to accurately judge travel speed.
10
FOG LIGHTS
When your vehicle is equipped with fog lights,
turn them on immediately.
11
They will make your vehicle easier for other
drivers to see.
12
Dont forget the rear fog lights(if present), to
make yourself more visible to drivers coming up
behind you.
13
KEEP RIGHT
It can be difficult to see the lane markings in
the fog, but try to focus on the right-side line
rather than the center-line.
14
This keeps you further away from the struggling
vehicles traveling in the opposite direction.
15
Defensive driving is always important, but it
becomes even more critical during times of poor
visibility.
16
PULL OVER
When the fog is very thick and visibility is
poor, stop on the side of caution by pulling over.
17
Do not slam on your brakes as the driver behind
you needs time to stop his car.
18
Try to navigate to a parking lot or other safe
space.
19
REMEMBER
Driving in fog is never fun, and it is best to
avoid it when possible.
20
If you must travel, though, follow the tips above
to remain as safe as you can.
