You never know what may happen when driving on a
road. Your car might break down in the middle of
nowhere, which isnt just inconvenient, but can
be dangerous as well. Its hard to know what to
do when your vehicle breaks down. During such
circumstances, its mostly panic that takes over.
This prevents from thinking straight. Of course,
one shouldnt be blamed for these feelings as
having car trouble in the middle of nowhere can
be a safety issue depending on where you end up
on the road.
3
This highlights the importance of car inspection
Freehold NJ from time to time for driving with
peace of mind. Your vehicle breaking down isnt
the end of the world, you should be prepared to
handle the situation. Proper preparation and
course of action are key to feeling safe and less
stressed in the face of your vehicles
functionality faltering. Also, your vehicles
bound to break down at some point in the course
of your driving career. So theres no point
cribbing about it as it happens.
4
  • The key to sail through such situations is by
being equipped to deal with it. Your vehicle
halting on the side of the road can be
nerve-wracking, theres no doubt about it, you
must remain calm during a situation as such in
    order to keep yourself safe.
  • You can never predict car trouble, you might
notice your engine light flickering, your engine
sputtering, you hear some strange sounds from
your vehicle- all these are signs that your car
    is about to break down.

5
People tend to feel overwhelmed and helpless, get
anxious, angry, scared, when such a situation
unfolds. The best thing you can do in a situation
like this is to maintain your calm and composure.
Here are some tips on what you should do when
your car breaks down to get through the situation
6
Turn on the emergency lights- First and foremost,
turn on the hazard lights in your bid to warn
other drivers about something being wrong with
your vehicle. This will lead for them to know
about your presence on the road and so, theyll
avoid your car safely. Your hazards should remain
on until help arrives.
7
Pull over- On most roads, you want to pull over
to the far right shoulder, as far off the road as
possible while staying on level ground. If it is
an interstate or multiple-lane highway with
medians youre driving on, you may want to
consider the left shoulder, making sure to pull
as far away from traffic as possible. Pulling
over isnt the easiest thing to do always, as you
do it make sure to not slam the brakes in panic.
8
The fact that your vehicle is no longer running
can be stressful, but you must remain calm, and
just remove your foot from the gas pedal and
carefully guide your vehicle to the shoulder.
Never stand behind or directly in front your car,
as you might not come in the view of other
roadway users, increasing your risk of being
struck by another vehicle.
9
Carefully exit your vehicle- Make sure it is safe
to get out of your vehicle (if your car is
smoking youll probably not want to stay in it).
This is particularly important on busy highways
where cars are passing at high speeds. If you are
on the right-hand shoulder, get out through the
passenger-side door.
10
If you feel that it is unsafe to get out, then
stay in with the seat belt on. This is likely the
best thing to do if you broke down in the middle
of the highway, provided there is no smoke or
fire coming from your car (you must exit as
quickly as possible).
11
Call for help- Once you have safely pulled over,
you should make yourself and your vehicle as
visible as you can to let other drivers know they
should proceed with caution. Call to get a tow
truck, mechanic or roadside assistance to come
help, or dial 911 if you require more assistance
or are in an emergency situation and not sure who
to contact.
