  • Discrimination is defined as the unjust or
prejudicial treatment of different categories of
people or things, especially on the grounds of
age, race, or sex. So what are the different
types of workplace discrimination, and how can
the attorneys at Nelson Law Group help you with
    your case?
  • Age Discrimination
  • Age discrimination is when people over the age of
40 are discriminated against in the workplace in
aspects such as hiring, firing, benefits,
promotions, layoffs, and pay. The Age
Discrimination in Employment Act protects those
over the age of 40 that may have a case.

  • Disability Discrimination
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act protects
those who may or may not have a disability from
discrimination. If a person has a disability or
is regarded by the employer as someone who has an
impairment and is discriminated against in
aspects such as hiring, firing, benefits,
promotions, layoffs, and pay, then this person
may quality for a disability discrimination case.
  • Pregnancy Discrimination
  • The Pregnancy Discrimination Act prohibits
discrimination based on pregnancy. This means
that women cannot be fired for being pregnant,
    and an employer cannot retaliate.

4
  • Race Discrimination
  • Federal law prohibits race discrimination. If an
employee is a member of a protected class and an
employer takes action against that employee
because of this, then that employee may be a
    victim of race discrimination.
  • Sex and Gender Discrimination
  • Federal law prohibits discrimination in the
workplace based on the sex of an employee. If an
employer takes action against an employee based
on sex or gender, then that employee may be a
    victim of workplace discrimination.
