Title: Understanding The PTE Exam Scoring Pattern - Avigna Learning Academy

1
The PTE exam is one of the most widely accepted
English language testing exams across the world.
While it may seem easy for those who speak
English regularly, it actually isnt as easy. It
requires lots of practice and professional PTE
exam online coaching in Chennai, as it is a
computer-based test, which requires you to read
from, write on, speak to, and listen to a
computer and not a human. So, if you are
comfortable reading from and writing on papers,
and speaking and listening to humans, remember
that it isnt going to be the same with
computers. So, make sure you take up lots of
practice sessions for PTE in a computer-based
environment. Also, it is again the computer that
will analyze your inputs and give you the
scores. No human is going to check your test.
This means that the computer has a limited
knowledge of grading, which is why you need to be
very specific with your answers. One mistake,
and you may lose out on marks!
The PTE exam is scored on a scale of 10-90,
depending upon various aspects like correctness,
quality of response, and other formal aspects.
These include appropriate answers, fluency,
pronunciation, word limit, etc. All these items
are machine-scored, where the grades are
generated by automated scoring systems. There are
only two types of scoring, namely correct and
incorrect. So, you are either right or you are
wrong there is no middle way out. However,
there are certain items that can be scored as
partially correct too. Let us dive in and take a
closer look at how the PTE is scored. SPEAKING

different segments of read aloud, repeat
sentence, describe image, and retell lecture.
All of these segments are scored on the basis of
partial scoring, where the aspects that are

content. WRITING This is a 40-60 minute test

disclosure, spelling, content structure, content
development, and form. READING This is a 32-40
minute test that includes different segments of
multiple choice questions single answer,
multiple choice questions multiple answers,
re-order paragraphs, and fill in the blanks. The
multiple choice questions single answer segment
is scored on the basis of only
correct/incorrect, while the rest are scored on
the basis of partial scoring, where only the
reading aspect is mainly graded. LISTENING This
is a 40-60 minute test that includes different
segments of summarize spoken text, multiple
choice questions single answer, multiple choice
questions multiple answers, fill in the blanks,
highlight correct summary, highlight incorrect
words, select missing words, and write from
dictation. The segments of multiple choice
questions single answer, highlight correct
summary, and select missing words are scored on
the basis of only correct/incorrect, while the
rest are scored on the basis of partial scoring,
where the aspects that are graded include
