Tips for Staying Healthy in College

2
  • Youre young. You may feel like staying healthy
is nothing to worry about after all, it wont
affect you much now. In fact, it is critical to
start developing good habits early. Not only will
this make it easier to stick to a healthy
lifestyle later in life, youll also feel better
    now.

1. Focus on Your Diet
  • Youre young. You may feel like staying healthy
is nothing to worry about after all, it wont
affect you much now. In fact, it is critical to
start developing good habits early. Not only will
this make it easier to stick to a healthy
lifestyle later in life, youll also feel better
    now.

4
  • Even if youre neither underweight nor
overweight, you need to think about what you eat.
Keeping to a balanced diet will improve your
immune system, allowing you to fit off any
    viruses that come your way.

5
  • Start the day right by having breakfast. At the
very least, eat a piece of fruit. If you have
more time, prepare a proper meal. Alternatively,
get something ready the night before and store
it. Then, over the rest of the day, avoid
snacking. Instead, eat proper meals at regular
times. This will encourage you to eat healthy
foods and stop you feeling hungry late at night.

6
2. Exercise Regularly
  • At a minimum, you need at least 20 minutes of
moderate exercise every day. Ensure that working
out fits into your schedule by signing up for a
sports program or a fitness class. If you live a
short distance from campus, walk or bike to your
    classes.

7
3. Sleep Enough
  • This is one of the most difficult tips,
especially for students living in Fanshawe
College housing, where you likely face noise and
distractions late into the evening. It is also
challenging if you have an active social life and
are tempted to stay out late. However, it is
critical that you limit your late nights as much
as possible, such as just to weekend when you can
    compensate the following morning. Otherwise,
youll find the lack of sleep starts to affect
your ability to focus and study.

8
4. Avoid Bad Habits
  • Just as important as developing good habits is
avoiding bad ones. Dont take up smoking in
college. If you already do smoke, quit now it
will be much easier than waiting until later.
Also, minimize your intake of caffeine, soda,
energy drinks, and other sugary beverages.

9
  • It is difficult to stay healthy when meals are
out of your control and you have no place to
exercise. This is often the case when you live on
campus. Luckily, you have an alternative
    off-campus student accommodation in London.
Students have especially good fortune, as they
can rent a suite in Residence on First. Youll
receive a full kitchen and access to a
commercially-equipped gym the two main things
you need to stay healthy in college.
