  • Abraham Lincoln was born in a one room cabin in
    Kentucky in 1809
  • Lincolns parents were Thomas and Nancy Lincoln.
    He had a sister, Sarah and a brother who died at
    infancy.
  • The Lincoln family moved to Knob Creek in 1816

Changes in Lincolns life
  • October 5 1818-Abraham Lincolns mother, Nancy
    Hank Lincoln, died of milk sickness.
  • December2, 1819- Lincolns father married, Sarah
    Bush Johnston.
  • March1-15, 1830-The Lincoln family moved to
    Illinois.

Abraham Lincoln Starts on His Own
  • July 1831- Lincoln left his family, at the age of
    22, and arrived in New Salem.
  • He worked as a clerk, postmaster, and surveyor.
  • He was part owner of a store, but it eventually
    failed.

Abraham Lincolns Relationships
  • July 1831-While in New Salem, Abraham Lincoln was
    involved with two women- Mary Owens and Ann
    Rutledge.
  • He had intentions of marrying Mary Owens.
  • Ann Rutledge died in 1832 and her death sent
    Abraham Lincoln into a deep depression.

  • 1839- Lincoln met Mary Todd, 21, at dance.
  • June 1840- Lincoln argues his first case to the
    Illinois Supreme Court.
  • 1840- Lincoln becomes engaged to Mary Todd

  • August 4, 1834- Lincoln is elected to the
    Illinois General Assembly as a member of the Whig
    party.
  • September 9, 1836- Lincoln receives his law
    license.
  • 1837- Lincoln becomes a law partner of John T.
    Stuart.

  • November4, 1842- Lincoln marries Mary Todd
  • August 1, 1843- The Lincolns first child, Robert
    Todd Lincoln is born.
  • May 1844- The Lincoln family moves to Springfield
    in a 1500 house.

Road to Presidency
  • May 29, 1856- Lincoln gets 110 votes for the
    vice-presidential nomination.
  • May 18, 1860- Nominated to be the Republican
    presidential candidate.
  • November 6, 1860- Lincoln is elected the 16th
    President of the United States.

Lincolns Death
  • April 14, 1865- Lincoln and wife see the play
    Our American Cousin at Fords Theater.
  • About 1013 p.m. Lincoln was shot.
  • April 15, 1865- Lincoln dies at 722 a.m.
