1Guide on Downloading NetLibrary E-Books (for
users of Adobe Reader 8 or higher)
N.B. Not all NetLibrary ebooks are
downloadable. Reference Section Run Run Shaw

2When you have logged in your personal NetLibrary
account and done a search
Click on the Show Details link for a book you
are interested in.
3If the ebook is downloadable, you will find the
link Check Out Download this eBook. Clicking
on it will check out the ebook to yourself. The
loan period is 24 hours.
4When you click this button to download the ebook,
5 you may encounter this page. Click this link
if you are certain that Adobe Reader 6.0 or
higher has been installed on your PC.
6If Adobe Reader 8.0 or higher is installed on
your PC, but Adobe Digital Editions has not been
installed, at this point the Reader will be
opened but the ebook cannot be downloaded. The
web page from where Adobe Digital Editions can be
downloaded will be opened in the web browser.
7Scroll down the page a bit.
8Click to install Adobe Digital Editions.

15Click Continue button to start activating Adobe
Digital Editions.
16Select an option. Then click Activate button
to activate Adobe Digital Editions.
17Which option to choose?
18At public workstations or at PCs which you do not
want to authorize under your own Adobe account,
select Dont Authorize Computer. The ebook
will be downloaded to the current PC and opened
in Adobe Digital Editions but it cannot be viewed
on any other PCs or devices.

21To get more information about the expiry date of
the ebook and the amount of text allowed to be
printed or copied, click this arrow when the
thumbnail of the book is displayed

24If later on, you change your mind and want to
authorize the current PC, in Adobe Digital
Edition, from the LIBRARY drop-down menu, select
Authorize Computer.
25Fill out this form, then click Authorize button
to authorize the current PC.
26If you dont have an Adobe ID yet, click this
link to get one.
If you are using your own PC and are likely to
view the ebook on other PCs or mobile devices,
select Authorize Computer and enter your Adobe
ID and Password. Then click Activate
button. When activation of Digital Editions is
complete, the ebook will be downloaded and opened
in Digital Editions.
27How to transfer downloaded ebook to another PC?
- To transfer a downloaded ebook to another
authorized computer - On the computer you're transferring from, locate
and open the My Digital Editions folder, located
inside the My Documents folder. - Choose the PDF file that correspond to the eBook
title you want to transfer. - Copy the selected file to portable media such as
a flash drive, or e-mail the file to the target
computer. - On the target computer, copy the PDF files into
the My Documents\My Digital Editions folder. - Open Adobe Digital Editions on the target
computer. Choose Library Add Item, and then
navigate to the My Digital Editions folder and
select the new files to bring them into the

28Important Notes
- Remember to check in (i.e. return) the
downloadable ebook in NetLibrary if you dont
need the ebook any more before the loan period
ends. This will free up the ebook for others. - Each time you click Download this eContent
button to download an ebook from NetLibrary, a
separate secured PDF file (usable within 24 hours
only) will be saved to your PC, even for the same
ebook title. Therefore, from time to time you
need to clear the unusable PDFs from your hard
disk to free up disk space. - All downloaded ebook PDFs are located inside the
My Documents ? My Digital Editions folder in
your PC.
