TORTS SECTION
The Torts section receives, investigates, and
settles claims filed against the United States
under the Federal Tort Claims Act and the
Military Claims Act. The Torts section receives
claims from all counties within North Carolina.
A claim for property damage or personal injury is
payable when it is caused by an act or omission
of military personnel or civilian employees of
the Department of the Army, acting within the
scope of employment, that is determined to be
negligent or wrongful.
