St. Raphael News

End of Third Term (Elementary) Third term report
cards will be sent home with your child on April
26th. We expect you to receive them that day and
request that you sign and return them on the next
school day, April 30th. Teachers will be
contacting you if they are late coming
back. Interviews will not be held right away.
Instead, this will happen in May, at which time
completed IEPs will be reviewed with each
student and parent and proposed placement for
next year will be discussed. Final decisions for
most, however, will be determined upon completion
of the school year. Personal Equipment We must
reiterate, especially at this time of the year,
that we do not recommend that students bring
cellular phones and electronic listening devices
and games to school, as they are often the source
of conflict and confrontation. We do reserve the
right to take them away if there is a problem and
require parents to come in to reclaim them.
Furthermore, we cannot take any responsibility if
they disappear or end up in the wrong
hands. EMSB Night at Montreal Impact Game
Reminder that the deadline for purchasing tickets
to the Impact game on June 15th is tomorrow Apr.
11th. Please send in your stubs with a cheque
(5.00) made payable to the school. Proposed
Name Changes The proposed names of the programs
within St. Raphael Centre - Imagine Elementary
School Program
Transition High School Program have been
submitted for approval at the next commissioners
meeting at the end of the month. Hopefully, we
can then officially announce the new names for
the 2007-2008 school year. EMSB Halo Race In
accordance with our emphasis on physical activity
and fitness, the school, as a whole, has
registered to be part of the run on Mount Royal
on May 3rd. However, we insist that students who
plan to take part, must embrace the rigorous
training program required to prepare for this run
of up to 5 kilometers (depending on age). Medals
and awards will be given to participants and
winners. A contract will be given to students
who wish to take advantage of this challenge and
only those students who successfully prepare will
accompany the school on May 3rd. It will be a
regular school day for others. Mural Painting
Activity We will be receiving a visit from Mr.
Marcio Melo over 3 days, Apr. 18th to Apr. 20th.
He will be coordinating 20 students, volunteers
from each level, who wish to design and paint a
wall downstairs in our gym. Transportation
Rebates for High School Students As is EMSB
policy, students who use public transportation to
travel to and from school are eligible to receive
rebates of 156.00 in April. The cheques, made
out in parents names, are in. Parents who have
not yet paid the full 100.00 amount (we have
adjusted this amount for those students who
arrived part way through the year) must do so
before we release the cheques. We are asking
parents of high school students to come to the
school during the week of Apr. 23rd to pick up
their childs third term report card along with
the cheque. Vaccinations The school nurse will
be here tomorrow, Thursday, Apr. 12th. to give
the vaccination to the students between 14 and 16
years of age who were absent on March 23rd.
Important Information Reminder Parents are
asked to call the school to advise us if your
child is going to be absent or late. You can call
at any time and leave a message on the answering
machine if the secretary is not there to answer
the phone. New Security Measures Please note
that in keeping with the EMSB emphasis on greater
security for our students and staff, we now have
a camera and intercom system at the front door.
Please remember that all visitors are to check in
at the office when arriving at school.
