Purpose
  • to enhance the public's health by fostering and
    promoting the interests of CEPH accredited
    community health education programs and their
    respective institutions
  • 10 Goals listed in Bylaws related to representing
    Accredited MPH Programs and networking internally
    and externally among the Accredited Programs

Eligible membership
  • CEPH Accreditation (Full accreditation status
    required Associate membership available for
    Pre-accredited or aspiring programs)
  • Program (CEPH Program accreditation status as
    Community Health Education or Community
    Health/Preventive Medicine)
  • Community Health Education or related
    concentrations (Health Education Programs
    identified on CEPH website or CEPH Programs with
    social-behavioral science emphasis)

  • Public health (CEPH) accreditation required
    (training in core public health and health
    education)
  • Primary emphasis on preparing practitioners for
    public and community agencies
  • Research emphasis on applied research and program
    evaluation

Selected Activities in 2003
  • Presented to IOM Committee On Who Will Keep the
    Public Healthy, the only organization speaking
    on behalf of CEPH Programs
  • Coordinated involvement of CEPH Programs in IOM
    follow-up workshop
  • Explored collaboration with HRSA, CDC, ASTHO,
    NACCHO NALBOH
  • Initiated membership in Council on Linkages
    disseminated Council information to CAMP
    institutions
  • Participated on National Task Force on
    Accreditation in Health Education
  • Continued participation on CDC Workforce
    Development initiatives
  • Study of CEPH accredited Programs with an
    emphasis in health education (sponsored by CAMP,
    CEPH and SOPHE)
  • Exhibited at APHA Annual Meeting

Priorities for 2004
  • Develop closer relationships with grassroots
    public health by working with ASTHO, NACCHO and
    NALBOH
  • Work through with the Council on Linkages to
    strengthen academia/practice collaboration
  • Collaborate with CDC and HRSA to support public
    health work force development
  • Facilitate implementation of IOM recommendations
    within accredited programs
  • Encourage increased CEPH accreditation among
    Health Education Programs
