Imagine your computer sitting on your desk at
home.

computer

Imagine some of those bookcases might have
articles that you could use for your essay in them

It involves putting the bookcases that have
relevant articles into the empty cupboard above
your computer

It also involves searching through the bookcases
in your cupboard for relevant articles and making
them appear on your machine so that you can then
print them off

So where are all these bookcases and cupboards
located?

• Imagine USQ library has a HUGE series of
  cupboards and bookcases hanging over it. Some
  are for business, some for arts some for
  engineering.

There are also some cupboards that are quite
small. They already have a single bookcase
already inside them

those already in little cupboards - are called
databases. In business they have names including

The empty cupboards are called sets of data
bases. In business they have names including
EBSCOHost and First Search. The little cupboards
that have only one book case that is already
inside are called databases. Emerald is a
database.
