  • In this lesson we will be exploring how our
bodies change as we approach puberty.

4
Don't Make Your Best Friend Have to tell You!
5
  • At puberty a lot of changes happen to your body

6
SKIN
  • When you are a child you sweat -
  • but at puberty you smell!

7
  • The sweat glands under your arms and around your
    genitals come thundering into action!

8
  • You may need to
  • use a deodorant/
  • antiperspirant, but
  • target the nozzle
  • carefully. The
  • chemicals can
  • trigger an asthma
  • attack in some
  • people!

9
Underclothes get stained and grubby, with all
that sweat and all those dead skin cells.
Bacteria get working overnight, so your clothes
smell even worse the morning after!
10
  • So change your underclothes often.

11
  • And hang your school uniform up to air when you
    come home from school.

12
  • And remember
  • Nothing is better than clean skin!

13
FEET
  • The largest number of sweat glands are on your
    feet.

14
Its great in here nice and damp and smelly!
  • Bacteria love the moist leather or fabric of
    your shoes!

15
  • Take your shoes off and let them dry out when
    you get home.
  • Its a good idea to wear an alternate pair every
    day.
  • Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

16
  • If you put insoles into your shoes, these may be
taken out and washed, to make your shoes smell
    less.
  • You might also put foot powder inside your shoes
    or on your feet.

17
HAIR
  • The hair follicles from which your hair grows
produce oil which keeps your hair smooth.

18
  • This oil, dead skin cells and the sweat glands
in your scalp can make your hair greasy, and
    look dirty.

19
  • Wash regularly with shampoo.
  • Massage your scalp to remove the dead skin
    cells, dirt and excess oil.
  • Rinse well with clean water

20
TEETH
  • Clean your teeth twice a day after breakfast
    and before bed.

21
  • During the day rinse your mouth with water to
get rid of particles sticking to your teeth.

22
Now your friends will be happy to be near you!
23
  • And theyll never need to bend your ear!

24
Glossary
  • puberty teenage years
  • bacteria germs, microrganisms
  • antiperspirant substance to control sweating
  • deodorant a spray or cream that people put
under their arms to conceal body odour.
