• Overview
• The National RD and Innovation Programme
  Information Society INFOSOC is part of the
  national RD and Innovation Plan for 2001-2005
  and is financed by the Romanian Government.
• The National Institute for RD in Informatics
  (ICI), Bucharest, leads the management team of
  INFOSOC Programme. The other members are
  University of Bucharest, The Academy of Economic
  Studies (ASE), Bucharest and The Training Center
  in Informatics (s.c. CPI S.A.), Bucharest.
• The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC)
  performs the monitoring of INFOSOC Programme.

• Objectives
• The achievement and the consolidation of the
  necessary condition for the development of the
  Information Society in Romania.
•  The development of the scientific and
  technological background for the implementation
  of the specific structures and services of the
  Information Society.
• The improvement of the usability and of impact
  of the structure and service specific to the
  Information Society on the economic sectors as
  well as on the entire society including the
  citizen level.

  the public and private sector
• RD units from the public sector (RD national
  institutes, research and technological
  development institutes, research institutes /
  centers and laboratories including those of the
  Romanian Academy, universities, research centers
  from universities etc)
• Commercial societies with RD profile from the
  public and private sector
• RD units or departments from the commercial
  societies or public companies as well as RD
  units subordinated to the or public companies

• (2) Economical agents from the public and private
  sector with the activities conforming HG 48/198
  cap. II, that means with RD activities included
  in their main activity.

• Beside the participants from scientific and
  technological fields representative from
  economical, commercial, financial and banking
  representatives can take part to the programme as
  well as local and for regional development
  authorities which are interested in promoting,
  initiation and financial support of the projects
  included in the programme.
•  
• The assignment of the project is done by
  auctions means. The auction commissions are made
  from recognized ITC specialists (professors,
  researchers, business men etc).
