Purpose of Study

• To establish a series of field demonstrations to
  document and communicate the benefits and impacts
  of using biosolids as a source of nutrients and
  organic matter in field crop production systems.

Objectives

• To be able to provide growers in the eight
  counties with the information, data and
  understanding they need to
• Make informed decisions regarding the use of
  biosolids on their farms.
• Be able to communicate their decision to
  non-farming neighbours.

Site Information

Project Design

• Replicated plots with commercial fertilizer as
  control
• Measured soil parameters such as pH, phosphorus,
  11 regulated metals
• Measured for changes in tissue grain
  composition
• Measured yield

Results

• Soil pH and regulated metal content did not
  change
• Plant available phosphorus higher in 4 of 6 MSB
  sites
• Yields were the same for control MSB plots
• PPMB application increased yield

  Crop Association
• Numerous presentations at Soil and Crop Annual
  meetings and monthly meetings
• A number of articles in the Ontario Soil and Crop
  newsletter
• Presentations at Ontario Soil and Crop Annual
  meeting
• Presentations at Farmmart at the University of
  Guelph
• Presentations at a variety of events such as this
  one
• An increased level of knowledge and understanding
  among the farm community in the region
