Come for Umrah for those who can afford
3
Spend most of your time at masjid
O people! The month of Allah(swt) has come with
His mercies and blessings. This is the month that
is the best of all months. Its days are the best
of days, its nights are the best of nights, its
hours are the best of hours.(Prophet
Muhammad-saw)
4
Perform a lot of prayers.
Pray that Allah gives us the strength and
patience and to accept all our fasts in this holy
month.
5
Do a lot of tasbih
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) said, that Allah
Subhanahu-wa-Taala said
All the deeds of man are for himself, except for
fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward it
MYSELF.
6
Give thanks that a messenger was sent to guide
mankind
  • Whoever fasts one day for the sake of Allah,
Allah will remove him a distance of seventy
    years from the Hell-fire.

In Paradise there is a gate called al-Rayyaan,
through which those who fast will enter, and no
one will enter it except them when they have
entered, it will be locked, and no-one else will
enter through it.
  • Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) said, Whoever fasts
Ramadan out of faith and with the hope of reward,
all his previous sins will be forgiven.

Fasting will intercede for a person on the Day of
Judgement, and will say, O Lord! I prevented him
from his food and physical desires during the
day, so let me intercede for him.
Whoever fasts one day, seeking the pleasure of
Allah, if that is the last day of his life, he
will enter Paradise.

The night of Power
Therein descend the angels and the Ruh Jibrael
(Gabrial) by Allahs Permission with all
Decrees. (All that night), there is Peace (and
Goodness from Allah to his believing slaves)
until the appearance of dawn. (Surah 97)
Verily, We have sent it (this Quran) down in the
night of Al-Qadr (Decree). And what will make you
know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree)is? The
night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months.
8
What to do in the Night of Power
Narrated Aisha (r.a.a.), Allahs messenger
(s.a.w.) said, Search for the night of Qadr in
the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan.
Aisha (r.a.a.) narrated, I asked Allahs
Messenger (s.a.w.) what should I do if I find the
night of Qadr. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.)
replied, Pray to Allah O our Lord! You are the
most Forgiving, You love to forgive, so forgive
us.

Ramadan Appeal During Ramadan, maximum food is
wasted. People cook lavishly just to show their
grandness of iftar. After fasting the whole day,
and praying all the 5 times, finally committing a
big sin throwing away food. Did you ever
realize in some countries, not having anything to
eat, water and salt is used for iftar. Instead
of cooking extra food and throwing it away just
to please your friends and relatives, prepare
what is necessary and please Allah by sending a
sizeable amount to poor countries for their saier
and iftar. Jazakallah ----------------------------
------------------- Brothers and friends Did you
care to share food with a poor in your life? Did
you care to share food with a poor in the last
one decade? Did you care to share food with a
poor in the last one year? Did you care to share
food with a poor in the last one month? Did you
care to share food with a poor in the last one
week? Did you care to share food with a poor in
the last one day? Please do it if you have not
and keep doing it if you already did, because it
is never enough and nobody knows whose child will
be sitting there forraging for scraps of food!
HE, The Most Powerful Lord, has all the power
and authority to put anybody to test, at any
time, anywhere, anyhow. -------------------------
----------------------

Dear Lord,I promise I will never waste my food
no matter how bad it can taste and howfull I may
be.  I pray that He will protect this little boy,
guide anddeliver him away from his misery.  I
pray that we will be more sensitivetowards the
world around us and not be blinded by our own
selfish natureand interests.  AMEN.I hope this
picture will always serve as a reminder to us
that howfortunate we are and that we must never
never take things for granted.__________________
Please don't break ..keep on fowarding to ur
friendOn this good day, I would like to suggest
a diversion of this'email not broken'. How about
we make aprayer for the suffering in Palestine,
Afghanistan, Iraq, Chechnya, Kashmir, Gujarat
and anywhere else around the globe? If each of
us make a prayer and send thisfriendly reminder
to others, just imagine how much good deeds we
will receive (without realising so).May all of
us get His blessing.Think look at this...when
you complain about your food and the food we
wasted daily.

Do you want
to finish reading the
Holly Qur'an
this Ramadan?
12
All you have to do is to read around 4.5 pages
after each prayer
13
Check this out
14
I never knew it was that easy to read the whole
Quran each month, by spending few minutes after
each prayer
WHAT AN INVESTMENT!!!
If you are in real hurry you can finish it once
every two months by reading just 2 pages.
CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT???
15
And remember, each letter you read in Qur'an
counts 10 hasanat.
What about a word??
What about a line??
What about a page??
What about a part??
What about the whole Quran???

  • Ramadan is the month of excitement for Muslims.
it is the month of revelation of Qur'an, the
month of reading and reciting the whole Qur'an,
the month of tahajjud and qiyam al layl, of
tarawih prayers, of sadaqah, zakah al-fitr and
zakah al-mal. It is also a month of social
    activities among Muslims.
  • No one can go anywhere without preparation, and
no one invites a guest without preparing to
welcome him / her. Similarly, to welcome
Ramadan, the month of fasting, one has to
prepare. The following are some tips to
    help the reader prepare accordingly
  • What to do
  • Try to fast Mondays and Thursdays as of today.
  • Start reading Qur'an daily after salat al fajr.
  • Spend some time listening to recitations from
    the Qur'an.
  • Train yourself to go bed early so that you can
wake up far salat al fajr.
  • Keep yourself in a state of wudu' most of the
    time.
  • Evaluate yourself daily before going bed.
  • Thank Allah for good deeds, and repent to Him
    for your mistakes and sins.
  • Give yourself time alone, to meditate, make
dhikr, tasbih, takbir, tahmid tahlil. You enjoy
    life tremendously.
  • Those who can afford to make Umrah before
    Ramadan comes should do so.
  • Start giving sadaqah daily, no matter how
    little.
  • Make it a habit like eating and drinking.
  • Find time to pray extras, such as duha salat,
    qiyam al layl, and tahajjud.
  • Spend more time reading Islamic books,
especially the Qur'an, Sirah, Hadith, and Fiqh.
  • Find time to help others with your wisdom,
    knowledge and other talents.

17
  • What to avoid
  • Reduce watching TV, instead spend more time
reading the Qur'an and other Islamic literature.
  • Avoid looking at unlawful pictures, whether
    magazines, department store catalogs or
    otherwise.
  • Avoid going to theaters instead go to masjid,
and make that a daily habit.
  • Avoid eating too much. Eat only when you are
hungry and try not to fill your stomach
    completely.
  • If you drink coffee, tea or soda , be sure to
    reduce consumption.
  • If you smoke, try to reduce daily usage
otherwise Ramadan will be very difficult for you
    to observe.
  • If you like to listen to music, whether the
style of western societies or even those from
Muslim countries, reduce, even eliminate the time
you spent on them replace them with reciting and
listening to recitation from the Qur'an.
  • If you enjoy playing cards and board games try
your best to avoid them as much as possible and
fill your time with something useful.
  • If you enjoy going with friends to picnics and
other social gatherings, try to reduce it before
Ramadan otherwise fasting the month of Ramadan
    will be more difficult.

  • SOME HEALTH GUIDELINES FOR RAMADHAAN
  • This article provides useful advice on how to
avoid some common problems encountered in
Ramadhan. If followed, it would enable one to
fast comfortably and enjoy fully the spiritual
    benefits of Ramadhan.
  • During the holy month of Ramadhan, our diet
should not differ very much from our normal diet
and should be as simple as possible. The diet
should be such that we maintain our normal
weight, neither losing nor gaining. However, if
one is over-weight, Ramadhan is an ideal time to
    normalise one's weight.
  • In view of the long hours of fasting, we should
consume slow digesting foods including fibre
    containing-foods rather than fast-digesting
foods. Slow digesting foods last up to 8 hours,
while fast-digesting foods last for only 3 to 4
    hours.
  • Slow-digesting foods are foods that contain
grains and seeds like barley, wheat, oats,
    millet, semolina, beans, lentils, wholemeal
flour, unpolished rice, etc. (called complex
    carbohydrates).
  • Fast-burning foods are foods that contain sugar,
white flour, etc. (called refined carbohydrates).
  • Fibre-containing foods are bran-containing foods,
whole wheat, grains and seeds, vegetables like
green beans, peas, sem (papry), marrow, mealies,
spinach, and other herbs like methie, the leaves
of beetroot (iron-rich), fruit with skin, dried
fruit especially dried apricots, figs and prunes,
    almonds, etc.
  • The foods eaten should be well-balanced,
containing foods from each food group, i.e.
fruits, vegetables, meat /chicken / fish, bread /
cereals and dairy products. Fried foods are
unhealthy and should be limited. They cause
    indigestion, heart-burn, and weight problems.
  • Avoid
  • Fried and fatty foods.

19
Eat Complex carbohydrates at sehri so that the
food lasts longer making you less hungry.
Haleem is an excellent source of protein and is
a slow-burning food. Dates
are excellent source of sugar, fibre,
carbohydrates, potassium and magnesium.
Almonds are rich in protein and fibre with less
fat. Bananas
are a good source of potassium, magnesium and
carbohydrates. Drink As much
water or fruit juices as possible between iftar
and bedtime so that your body may adjust fluid
levels in time. Constipation Consti
pation can cause piles (haemorroids), fissures
(painful cracks in anal canal) and indigestion
with a bloated feeling. Causes Too much refined
foods, too little water and not enough fibre in
the diet. Remedy Avoid excessive refined foods,
increase water intake, use bran in baking, brown
flour when making roti. Indigestion And
Wind Causes Over-eating. Too much fried and
fatty foods, spicy foods, and foods that produce
wind e.g. eggs, cabbage, lentils, carbonated
drinks like Cola also produce gas. Remedy Do not
over-eat, drink fruit juices or better still
drink water. Avoid fried foods, add ajmor to
wind-producing foods. Lethargy ('low blood
pressure') Excessive sweating, weakness,
tiredness, lack of energy, dizziness, especially
on getting up from sitting position, pale
appearance and feeling faint are symptoms
associated with "low blood pressure". This tends
to occur towards the afternoon. Causes Too
little fluid intake, decreased salt
intake. Remedy Keep cool, increase fluid
and salt intake. Caution Low blood pressure
should be confirmed by taking a blood pressure
reading when symptoms are present. Persons with
high blood pressure may need their medication
adjusted during Ramadhan. They should consult
their doctor. Headache Causes Caffeine and
tobacco-withdrawal, doing too much in one day,
lack of sleep, hunger usually occur as the day
goes by and worsens by day end. Associated with
"low blood pressure", the headache can be quite
severe and can also cause nausea before
Iftar. Remedy Cut down caffeine and tobacco
slowly starting a week or two before
Ramadhan. Herbal and caffeine-free teas may be
substituted. Reorganise your schedule during the
Ramadan so as to have adequate sleep.
20
Low Blood Sugar Weakness, dizziness, tiredness,
poor concentration, perspiring easily, feeling
shaky (tremor), unable to perform physical
activities, headache, palpitations are symptoms
of low blood sugar. Causes in non-diabetics
Having too much sugar i.e. refined carbohydrates
especially at suhur (sehri). The body produces
too much insulin causing the blood glucose to
drop. Remedy Eat something at sehri and limit
sugar-containing foods and drinks. Caution
Diabetics may need to adjust their medication in
Ramadan, consult your doctor. Muscle
Cramps Causes Inadequate intake of calcium,
magnesium and potassium foods. Remedy Eat foods
rich in the above minerals e.g. vegetables,
fruit, dairy products, meat and dates. Caution
Those on high blood pressure medication and with
kidney stone problems should consult their
doctor. Peptic Ulcers, Heart Burn, Gastritis and
Hiatus Hernia Increased acid levels in the
empty stomach in Ramadhan aggravate the above
conditions. It presents as a burning feeling in
the stomach area under the ribs and can
extend upto the throat. Spicy foods,
coffee, and Cola drinks worsen these
conditions. Medications are available to control
acid levels in the stomach. People with proven
peptic ulcers and hiatus hernia should consult
their doctor well before Ramadhan. Kidney
Stones Kidney stones may occur in people who have
less liquids to drink. Therefore, it is essential
to drink extra liquids so as to prevent stone
formation. Joint Pains Causes During Ramadhan,
when extra salah are performed the pressure on
the knee joints increases. In the elderly and
those with arthritis this may result in pain,
stiffness, swelling and discomfort. Remedy Lose
weight so that the knees do not have to carry
extra load. Exercise the lower limbs before
Ramadhan so that they can be prepared for the
additional strain. Being physically fit allows
greater fulfilment, thus enabling one to perform
salah with ease. _______________________________
