What is High School Athletics?
  • Competitive
  • Comprehensive teaching programs
  • Focus on the process (training practice) not the
    outcome (winning)
  • Commitment of time (minimum 2 hrs/day 5/day a
    week
  • Weekends and week nights
  • NOT recreational sports

What does it mean to be a Student Athlete
  • Student comes first in Student Athlete
  • Maintain a minimum of 2.0 gpa and pass at least 4
    classes (20 units)
  • Cut vs. Non Cut Sports
  • PE Credit for Freshman (last year sports will
    count!)

  • LGHS has 26 different boys and girls teams
  • Most sports offered of any public school
  • Crew, Hockey, Mountain Bike are club sports and
    are not associated with LGHS

  • Teams have earned 9 Scholastic CCS championships
    since 2006
  • 3 Scholastic State Championships
  • Girls Tennis 2006-2007
  • Girls Basketball 2006-2007
  • Boys Soccer 2007-2008
  • Over the last two years almost every team has
    been in the top 5 of the CCS for highest GPA
  • Many of our Student Athletes Continue playing
    sports in some of the most prestigious Schools in
    the state and Country

  • Over 137 League Championships
  • going as far back as 1930
  • 31 CCS championships
  • First year of CCS Championships for any sport
    was 1966
  • State Champs in CC 1980, 2000
  • 3rd in CCS for most championships

  • Over 102 league championships all coming after
    1976
  • 31 CCS Championships starting in 1983
  • 7th in CCS for most championships
  • State Champs in Volleyball 1993

Participation
  • Los Gatos High School has one of the highest
    rates of athletic participation in the Section

Participation Card
  • All Athletes MUST have a card on file in the main
    office before tryouts or first day of practice
  • Any athlete who fails to turn their card in will
    be removed from the practice area immediately and
    CANNOT return until a card is on file in the main
    office
  • Card MUST be signed by the STUDENT, PARENT,
    DOCTOR (physical)
  • Must have insurance information filled out
  • Cards can be turned into Coach, AD, or Main
    Office (preferred method)
  • Please photocopy your card before you turn it in
    for your records (cards can be misplaced)

Where can I get a sports physical
  • Los Gatos High School will offer physicals in
    Partnership with MORE Physical Therapy
  • When Saturday June 20th and Saturday August 1st
    starting at 900 AM (first come first serve)
  • Where LGHS Field House next to football field
  • How Much 30 cash or check made payable to LGHS
  • All profits will be donated back to LGHS
    athletics
  • Only a doctor can sign for a sports physical (new
    district policy)

200 Participation Fee
  • State provides Zero (0) funding for any sports
  • Program must be self funded though gate receipt
    and participation fee
  • With exception to football gate receipts are
    minimal and therefore all funding comes from the
    200 fee
  • With Continued economic crises in California your
    200 fee per sport becomes vital
  • Many schools could be faced with cuts
  • What does my 200 fee pay for???

How to Pay Your Fee
  • You can pay online at www.lghs.net
  • Major credit card or e-check
  • No additional fee to pay online (preferred
    method)
  • You can write a personal check to LGHS
  • Turn the check into Ms. Logan in the Main Office
  • Write your sport in the memo line
  • Make sure to have a copy of the check for your
    records
