• Batchelor's you know the area generally (Can
  make use of well known parts of field)
• Master's you know a specialised area in depth
  (Can make use of state of art of knowledge in
  applications)
• Doctorate you have contributed to a specialised
  area. (Creator of new knowledge)

Conclusions

• CXC's in at least Maths, English, and preferably
  many other subjects (at least 5)
• A Level's or CAPE in Maths (maybe a Science
  instead).
• Don't worry about specialising from now plenty
  of time to do that later.
