  • The goal of straight-line/distance kicking is to
    concentrate on
  • The approach to the ball
  • Leg speed
  • Foot connection with the ball
  • Leg drive and follow through
  • By plotting your kicks and entering brief remarks
about each kick, you will discover trends that
    lead to necessary adjustments.
  • A consistent routine and a solid connection with
the ball is the platform kickers must ALWAYS
strive to attain. This kickers platform is
the basis of all penalty or conversion kicks.
Greater distance can be achieved over time but
not at the risk of breaking down the kickers
    platform.

Plot the impact (A-P) above
  • The goal of targeting is to align the kickers
platform with the center point of the goal posts
(adjusting for wind as necessary). Remember the
    following when targeting
  • Target something you see beyond the posts
  • Do not focus on the posts
  • Approach the ball in the same manner as in the
    straight-line/distance exercise
  • Do not try to kill the ball however when ever
possible kick it beyond the try zone (out of
    play)

Log comments that are pertinent to the day such
