  • Cardfields staff greet the
  • arrival of the visiting
  • group.
  • The children are introduced to the staff by the
    Lady of the House !

  • Some school groups arrive wearing
  • Victorian costume, some school uniform,
  • and some wear old clothes
  • so that they can dash around
  • playing football or basketball
  • weather permitting
  • at lunch time !

  • The children are welcomed inside by the Lady of
    the House and all the staff.
  • Each group has a cloakroom area and somewhere
    to leave packed lunches etc.

  • As the children are greeted on arrival,
  • a member of the school staff
  • is shown all necessary facilities,
  • lunch areas and loos etc !
  • Accompanying adults
  • have the chance
  • to collect a cup of tea or coffee
  • to take with them to the first
  • activity.

  • The group is introduced to a variety of Christmas
    traditions, including food, mistletoe, the Yule
    log, crackers, Carols and Christmas stories.
  • Everyone gets the chance to sample a mince pie,
    or other delicacy !

  • Schools are requested
  • to notify the centre of
  • any food allergies,
  • to ensure that pupils
  • are offered
  • appropriate food samples.

  • The group try their skills with Victorian toys,
    and play traditional Parlour Games !

  • Victorian arts and crafts are undertaken,
    including
  • Brass Rubbings
  • Black and white photography

  • Pupils create Christmas Cards, using screen
    printing techniques.
  • First of all a template is made .

  • messy !
  • ( Disposable aprons are supplied ! )

  • The pupils produce moveable Christmas paper
    toys, decorations and marbled paper.

  • The children take all their
  • artwork back to school.
  • The work may be trimmed
  • and mounted at school
  • to produce
  • Christmas Cards
  • Calendars
  • Christmas gifts etc

  • If the children wish to bring spending money,
    there is a chance to buy a souvenir to take home.
