RATIONALE

• The project idea is directly connected with
  the Municipal Plan for Development for the period
  2007-2013 (Priority 2 Planned construction,
  rehabilitation and modernization of the Municipal
  infrastructure, Specific objective 2.4
  -Improvement of the ecological infrastructure,
  Measure 2.4.5 Consolidation and correction of the
  river-beds)
• The implementation of the project proposal will
  lead to improvement of the living environment and
  supporting the ecological balance in the region
  through prevention of floods and landslides and
  restraint on the bank erosion of the runways of
  Beli Lom River and Dobrudzha Channel.

OBJECTIVES

• Reach the maximum capacity of the river-beds of
  Beli Lom River
• Prevention in cases of floods the adjoining
  residential and public areas
• Prevention the bank erosion and the destruction
  of the adjoining technical infrastructure
• Improvement of the access to the near industrial
  and residential zones.

ACTIVITIES

• Drawing up draft investment projects
• Cutting and clearing the greenery
• Correction of the Beli Lom river beds
• Rehabilitation, facing the river beds and
  construction of other supporting installations
  (walls)
• Rehabilitation and reconstruction of the existing
  bridge facilities.

EXPECTED RESULTS

• Quantity
• Correction and facing of 5 square metres
  river-beds
• Rehabilitation and reconstruction of 8 bridge
  facilities.
• Quality
• Improvement of the ecological and
  socio-economical status of the municipality
  through preventing from bank erosing, decreasing
  the cases of overflooding in the areas alongside
  the river and improvement of the business
  climate.
