• The Mt. Abe Scholars Bowl team advanced to the
  semi-finals for the first time in 10 years.
• A Mt. Abe student competed for the second
  straight year on the 15 member VT Math All-Stars
  Team at a national math competition at Penn State
  University.
• The AP Biology Exam pass rate increased from 33
  to 60.

• Mt. Abe students earned 17 of 19 top awards in
  UVM/Air National Guards National Engineers Week
  competition. (2007)
• Teams from Mt. Abe took 1st and 2nd place in
  UVMs TASC competition. (2006)
• 42 high school students earned 66 (1/2) credits
  in Summer School. 16 middle school students
  developed skills in Math, Language and Social
  Studies.

• American Association of Teachers of French (AATF)
  gave 2007 Outstanding Senior in French award to a
  Mt. Abe student.
• Two Mt. Abe Middle School students qualified for
  the National History Day competition in College
  Park, MD.
• A Mt. Abe student won numerous state-wide math
  competitions.

• 7 Mt. Abe students took the AP Calculus II exam,
  3 students earned 5s and 1 earned a 4.
• The Mt. Abe Design Technology Dept. received a
  3,000 Fieldstone Foundation Grant for 2 years in
  a row.
• 25 Mt. Abe Middle School students completed the
  Middle School Challenge Project.

• 47 of BES 3rd 6th graders passed all four
  operations facts tests received Math Masters
  Awards.
• A Beeman student won the district spelling bee.
• Throughout the school year, every Lincoln student
  presented, How I Used My Mind Well This Week at

  the Arts award from the Middlebury College
  Museum of Art.

Community Connections

• Bristol Elementary School was featured on
  Waitsfield Champlain Valley Telecoms
  newsletter when the new playground was dedicated
  at an opening day ceremony with Governor Douglas
  in attendance.
• Beeman Elementary School built a new playground
  with the help of 100 community members. Governor
  Douglas visited.

• Bristol and Beeman Elementary Schools each
  accepted 500 grants from the Exxon Mobil
  Educational Alliance.
• Bristol students used their Exxon grant money to
  build raised bed gardens with help from the PTO
  and Health Advisory Group.
• Beemans Healthy School Team helped students grow
  produce for use in their hot lunch program.

  Growing Healthy gardening program, a community
  supported greenhouse and the Annual Harvest

• A Peer Mentor grant paid 10 Mt. Abe students to
  tutor 20 30 math learners.
• Mt. Abe students volunteered as homework buddies
  to Beeman kids.
• AP Spanish students from Mt. Abe taught classes
  at Beeman for one semester.
• Beeman partnered with over 50 Middlebury College
  mentors.

• Bristol Elementary School is in their 6th year of
  Designated Reader Program, where every student
  has their own adult volunteer to read with for 30
  minutes each week. Retired citizens (RSVP
  program), parents and community members all
  donate time consistently!

• Robinson students, staff and parents cooked and
  served a festive Thanksgiving meal for community
  senior citizens.

• Mt. Abe Woodworking class set up a business to
  build and sell Adirondack chairs. They sold over
  100 chairs!

  Town website to serve as senior citizen social
  directory.
• Mt. Abe 9th graders partnered with community
  members and businesses in a Field Investigations
  program.

  overall in 2007 Vermont Envirothon competition.

• Lincolns K-4 Cultural Study Month in Jan 07
  focused on Ghana. Study included input from
  experts in and natives of Ghana, and culminated
  in a fabulous community celebration.

• Dont Forget, a Mt. Abe student group, raised
  over 4,000 for Invisible Children to stop the
  suffering of child soldiers in Uganda.

• 5th 6th graders from Robinson made books that
  were sent to a widow and orphans center in Kenya.

• In spring of 07, two exchange students, one from
  Austria and one from Germany, attended Mt.
  Abraham.

Renewable Energy Efficiency

• Student-designed Woodchip Plant at Mt. Abe went
  on-line fall of 2006.
• Mt. Abe students testified before the Senate
  Agriculture Committee on their plan to use
  switchgrass based pellets as bio-fuel to replace
  gas and oil use in Vermont.
• Physics students met with Congressman Welch about
  their work on sustainable energy.

• A Mt. Abe senior won first prize in the Echo
  Earth Week art contest.
• A Beeman student won a Green-Up Day poster
  contest in her age group.
• Beeman students were featured on the front page
  of the Addison Independent during Green Up Day
  2006.

• Mt. Abe students were featured in Burlington Free
  Press article as they discussed their
  accomplishments with representatives of the
  states High Schools On the Move program.

• Mt. Abe Technology Education Classes served 191
  high school students and 163 middle school
  students during spring 07 semester, preparing
  younger students for a two year course at the
  Hannaford Career Center and providing all
  students an opportunity to earn degrees and
  develop job skills.

• The Gay Straight Alliance grew to over thirty
  people after TallerAnts and MAUHS students
  organized a 500-student State-wide Conference in
  May 2006. Twenty Mt. Abe students attended the
  conference and five of them ran workshops for
  other students.

• Due to creative initiatives like senior projects,
  advanced learning opportunities and the Futures
  Academy, among others, the drop out rate at Mt.
  Abe has decreased from 25 in 2002 to 8 in 2005.

  attention when featured in Teaching K-8
  magazine.
• Beeman secured a Bristol Friends of Arts grant
  for summer music and arts camps.
• Monkton school collaboratedwith Frog Hollow

  Monkton writing and art exhibit.

  performance encompassed a two month Renaissance
  study and became a community-wide arts event,

• Bristol 5th 6th graders participated in the
  Vermont Fitness Competition at UVM.
• Nine Bristol 2nd 3rd graders participated in
  the Many Milers program and ran a minimum of 26.2
  miles.
• Monkton girls participated in Girls on the Run
  program and completed a 5K run at UVM.

  year, 85,000 grant for Comprehensive School
  Reform. The work begun with the grant will
  continue to develop this year.
• Several schools continue school-wide training and
  implementation of Responsive Classroom philosophy
  and practices.
• Mary Lipsons book on reading comprehension
  highlighting BES teachers was published.

  Outstanding ANESU Middle/Secondary Teacher of
  the Year.
