- Hispanics/Latinos will be more aware that they
have to learn how to eat, how often and how to
prepare the meals they love, without sacrificing
the ethnic foods and traditional plates they like
so much.
5Campaign messages
- People with diabetes have the same nutritional
needs as any other person. - Combined with physical activity and medications
(insulin or diabetes pills), nutrition is
essential to manage diabetes. - Eating healthy does not mean sacrificing flavor
and avoiding foods that we like.

- Exchange lists cluster foods in areas similar in
carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and calories.
These can be a good guide to plan a balanced
meal. - To control diabetes, medications only cant do
the job having a balanced meal plan, being
physically active, and losing some weight are key
factors for success.
