Personal StatementWhat they look for
  • Admission officer wants to know more about you in
    person, so a personal statement gives an insight
    to what you have in store for them
  • GET PERSONAL! This is the time to let them
    discover the part of you which cannot be found
    anywhere in your transcript.

    which will appear in your transcripts / reference
    letter)

PS on UCAS
  • Check your Essay! Submit it to a qualified
    English teacher.
  • Take note of the Style and Tone of your essay
  • i) Sentence Variety
  • ii) Word Choice
  • iii) Verb Tense
  • iv) Transition

Preparing for the Interview
  • Be sincere and polite
  • College interviews are not the time for modesty
    and monosyllabic answers.
  • There might be something on your transcript that
    might need explanation, so be prepared.
  • NOTEMABECs provide mock interviews for Oxbridge
    applicants

What should I wear?
  • Not something that dress to kill!
  • Two groups as usual-
  • a) Women Nice slacks and a blouse/ simple
    dress, Shoes should be low to medium heels.
  • b) Men Nice pants with a shirt, tie and a
    jacket. Turtleneck and sweater is another
    possible combination!
  • Strictly no JEANS and CAPS.

  • Sit still and look directly at the interviewer.
  • Do not tap your fingers on the table or the chair
    arm.
  • Do not tap your feet or swing your legs. Sit up
    straight in your chair with both feet on the
    floor.
  • Breathing slowly and taking time to pause between
    your thoughts will help you stay calm.
