- Ensures that consensus has been achieved and due
process has been followed - Does not make formal technical judgements on a
project - Recommends final approval of a completed project
to the Standards Board
7Procedures Committee (ProCom)
- Drafts changes to procedures and new procedures
in response to - changing Standards Board requirements
- directions from the Board of Governors
- Must act judiciously AND quickly!
8Patent Committee (PatCom)
- Addresses patent issues/problems of
standards-writing groups - Provides oversight for use of patents in IEEE
Standards - Provides archive of patent assurance letters
- IEEE-SA Legal Counsel interprets the law

- Provides audit oversight to the
standards-development activities of IEEE
Societies and Standards Coordinating Committees
(SCCs) - Goal that all IEEE standards committees have
fair and open processes and procedures, and that
they comply with them - Under development program for universal
Standards Board oversight (Societies, SCCs, ASCs,
TAGs) - SCCs are sponsored by the IEEE-SA Standards Board

- Comprised of Standards Board Officers and Chairs
of each standing committee - plus senior staff and legal counsel
- Reviews agendas and recommends operational plan
for the Standards Board meeting
