General Product Overview
  • Line Sharing also known as Shared Loop, provides
you with the opportunity to offer end-users
advanced data services over the existing copper
loop that provides the end-user's analog
voice-grade (Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS))
service. This is done by using the frequency
range above the voice band of the copper loop
where Qwest provides voice service to the
end-user. This frequency range is referred to as
the High Frequency Spectrum Unbundled Network
    Element (HUNE).
  • Line Splitting provides you with the opportunity
to offer advanced data service simultaneously
with an existing Unbundled Network Elements
Platform (UNE-P) Plain Old Telephone service
(POTS) by using the frequency range above the
voice band on the copper loop. The advanced data
service may be provided by the CLEC/DLEC or
another service provider chosen by you.
  • Loop Splitting provides the CLEC/DLEC with the
opportunity to offer advanced data service
simultaneously with an existing Unbundled Local
Loop by using the frequency range above the voice
band on the copper loop. The advanced data
service may be provided by the CLEC/DLEC or
another service provider chosen by you. For
purposes of this web page CLEC will refer to the
voice provider and DLEC to the advanced data
    service provider.
  • Customers requiring detailed product training
should contact their account team representative.
