FACTS

• AWC focuses on the regional and thematic process.
• Provide necessary support to the political
  process which is the responsibility of the League
  of Arab Countries as well as the Arab Water
  Ministers.

Objectives

• Initiate dialogue between stakeholders.
• Build consensus about priority issues of regional
  interest.
• Decide on sessions to be organized under AWC
  umbrella for 5th Forum.
• Build partnerships for coordinating topics and
  sessions.
• Decide on the outline and content of regional
  report.

Output

• 12 thematic sessions identified with regional
  focus.

• Those were communicated to the Secretariats of
  the Forum and the WWC on April 15, 2008 with no
  firm answers on how they will be accommodated.

ARAB REGION REPORT
" Challenges and Opportunities for Bridging the
Water Divides in the Arab Region "

• The report will be one of the main outputs of the
  Arab Region to the 5th WWF.
• It will be produced through a comprehensive
  regional preparatory process.
• It reflects the theme and the motto of the Forum.
• It intends to be a reflection on what are the
  regions most challenging water issues causing
  divides within and beyond the water sector, the
  way they are assessed and the region and nations
  response to these challenges, in the present and
  the future and the actual and potential
  opportunities in bridging the water divides
  within and beyond the region.
