The test stack frame
  • supporting the 6 TRD chambers
  • currently designed / under construction
  • built from ITEM profiles
  • available by end of May
  • in 12 oclock position for ROC mounting
  • in 3 oclock position in the test beam
  • range in theta - 45 (around z axis)
  • range in phi - 20 (around y axis)
  • vertical range 80 cm (on pos. device)
  • horizontal range 64 cm (on pos. device)

  • 6 or 8 fully equipped RBs with DCS boards
  • fast readout via readout tree

In case of trouble with the fast readout
  • Fully equipped RBs with DCS boards
  • slow readout using the DCS boards
  • data accessed via DIM and SCSN

Running the TRD test beam without RBs
  • Use 6 single MCMs
  • readout via SCSN and 6 ACEX cards
  • allows only very restricted angular range !!

Trigger setup
Still to be defined A CCT VME processor
  • (needed each for trigger and monitoring dets)
  • can be loaned from CERN for 106 CHF/month
  • has been reserved
  • needs to be confirmed until next week

Status of components
  • All 6 chambers no problem
  • Support frame no problem
  • Services HV, LV, Gas, Cooling - no problem
  • Final Electronics will come quite late
  • New DAQ system will be a big task

Need time and people for setup and tests !

Electronics DAQ status
We have right now (04/2004)
  • Electronics
  • A PASA on a TRD chamber
  • DAQ
  • A PIII running CERN RH Linux 7.3.3
  • An ALICE DATE 4.7 installation
  • A running DDL link

Planning
David Emschermann TRD
Status Meeting Heidelberg 15/04/2004
22
Short term goals
  • Get a RB running on a TRD chamber
  • Participate at TPC test beam in May
  • Try to copy existing DAQ setups

David Emschermann TRD

23
Summary and Outlook
Planning is advancing well Final electronics is
available only few weeks before TB gt Setup of
DAQ and electronics will be critical

In other words
We have to hurry or we run out of time.
