Maintenance Industrial Trainee 2005/2006
Salary- 15,650 per annum
The Engineering Maintenance department at
Pfizer, Sandwich is responsible for managing
Pfizer Global Manufacturings (PGMs) material
assets, ranging from chemical production process
plants, support buildings, site infrastructure,
waste facilities and utilities. The Maintenance
Industrial Trainee will work on projects to
enhance overall management of plant assets. This
will involve identifying and implementing
improvements to the maintenance strategy for the
existing process plants. Opportunity is provided
to troubleshoot on customer department problems
and manage small plant improvement projects from
initial conception and feasibility studies,
through design and costing, to installation and
commissioning. Support and guidance of
engineering staff will be provided, although the
emphasis is upon working on your own initiative,
seeing projects through from conception to final
completion. Self-motivation is therefore a
required attribute, as is leadership, teamwork
and communication skills for larger projects.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and
Excel is essential. Technical resources are
completely at your disposal, including a
Computerised Maintenance Management System, a
dedicated drawing office, and a library of
Maintenance manuals. Training where required is
fully supported. The Engineering Education
Scheme (EES) teams up schools with local
industries as a means of introducing students to
Engineering. It gives them the opportunity to
undertake an Engineering project based around
genuine Engineering problem within the site.
During the placement, the Industrial Trainee will
supervise and oversee a group of A-level students
participating in the EES. Tasks will include
choosing a suitable project liasing with the
school to arrange and facilitate student visits
and giving appropriate help, direction and advice
to the participating students. Candidates should
be studying for Mechanical or Process Engineering
Degree. Student membership of a relevant
Engineering Institution would be an advantage.
