• The Moser Report, A Fresh Start, recommended that
  "At the heart of improved quality in delivery and
  materials must be increased use of Information
  and Communication Technologies (ICT) to improve
  basic skills".
• ICT provides a powerful motivation for adults
  with poor basic skills
• Learners using ICT acquire keyboard and other
  computing skills as they improve their reading,
  writing or maths
• Technology provides new opportunities in teaching
  not possible through paper based materials (e.g.
  the use of sound)
• the web and digital TV offer attractive means of
  learning for the learner with borderline basic
  skills who wants to brush up skills at home.

Effectiveness of E-Learning

• To summarise
• Electronic resources have a lot to offer
  learners and tutors in adult basic skills. They
  can a good way to offer students a chance to
  learn in an individual way, and practice valuable
  IT skills at the same time. They can offer
  enjoyment, variety and interactivity, and help
  students become more independent learners.
