• Business Plan and Planned Revisions
• Section VI Appeals will be expanded
• The consensus process by its very nature provides
  an appeal process to make sure all topics and
  parties have been addressed properly
• Administrative review
• The Executive Committee and Subcommittee Chair
  review the appeal for any unaddressed technical
  issues

• The Subcommittee is the technical resource of the
  Full Committee to address technical issues
• If there are no technical issues, the
  Administrative Appeal goes forward
• A revised section to address multiple appeals on
  the same topics has been drafted
• The Executive Committee will review the appeals
  submitted for a specific standard, propose
  combining like topics, submit proposal to
  appellant, if acceptable follow the normal
  process, if rejected record reason in the appeals
  documentation and proceed following the normal
  process
• If the Appellant and Secretariat cant informally
  resolve the issue(s), an Appeal Panel is
  appointed

• Appeal Panel membership
• One representative selected by the ASC Z88
  Secretariat, the respondent
• One representative selected by the Appellant
• One representative agreeable to both parties
• A section providing more detail on the process
  with specific timelines for reaching a decision
  has been drafted. The appellant and respondent
  have 60 days to select the representative. If
  agreement cant be reached a neutral party within
  AIHA will appoint the representative.

Z88.2 Practices for Respiratory Protection

• Appeal Update
• Three appeals have been received for this
  Standard
• The first Appeal Panel has started work on May
  12, 2005
• The Appeals Panel found in favor of the
  respondent
• Work will continue on addressing the other two
  appeals

Z88.6 Respirator Use - Physical Qualifications
for Personnel

• Status
• The one negative com ment has been resolved, the
  negative ballot withdrawn and a ballot addressing
  the changes has been submitted to the ASC Z88
  committee
• Ballot closed Friday, May 12, 2006 and no
  negatives have been received as of Thursday
• Hopefully, this Standard is complete

(Published 2001)

• Available Standard
• This is a specialized Standard primarily for use
  by manufacturers and regulators
• We will evaluate the future need for this
  Standard and initiate a new Subcommittee or allow
  this Standard to be withdrawn by ANSI

Membership Update

• We have contacted the existing members of the ASC
  Z88 Committee to confirm their contact
  information and interest in continuing on the
  committee
• We are in the process of addressing ASC Z88
  committee balance in the process of replacing
  several of the members
• An updated membership list will be available in
  several months
