The 4x4 Club Zimbabwe
  • The Club was originally formed as The Landrover
and Off-Road Enthusiasts' Club in 1993. Since its
inception the Club has grown and embraced all
marques of 4 wheel drive vehicles. At the AGM
held in March 2001, the name of the club was
changed to 'The 4 x 4 Club' to reflect the
ever-widening scope of the membership and its'
    activities.
  • Affiliated to the Zimbabwe Motor Sports
    Federation, this family-oriented club organizes
off-road and four-wheel drive activities. Events
are planned to be non-vehicle damaging and
socially competitive. Members vehicles include a
wide variety of four wheel drives from a
collection of original early Series I Landrover
to the latest and most modern of Japanese luxury
off road machinery. The club also assists those
brave enough to rescue and restore old vehicles.
  • Monthly club events include novice training days
to teach the newly converted the correct use of
their vehicles and equipment, hill climbs,
    rondeneering events and weekend cross-county
jaunts. The club does not restrict its membership
to owners of four wheel drives, but encourages
    all enthusiasts to join .

Ngomo Kureira
  • This is a mountain in Domboshawa that the club
traditionally drives up every year on the last
Sunday in January. It is also a tradition that
all new members touch the beacon with the nose of
    their vehicle

8
Away Weekends
  • The club occasionally organizes away weekends for
club members. Past venues have included
Tashinga, Mana Pools, Aberfoyle, Arcadia dam and
    various others.

9
Eco Challenge
  • This is a competitive event where competitors are
tested on their knowledge of the environment and
are taught how to preserve the environment while
driving off road. This year we were lucky enough
to be able to send the winners of our own Eco
Challenge to compete in the South African Eco
Challenge which consisted of an expedition taking
scientists into remote parts of Mozambique

10
The Bush Pig
  • The Bush Pig is a 4 x 4 competition run through
various obstacles on farms in the Beatrice area.
Teams consist of 2 vehicles each with a driver
and Navigator. The teams must navigate their way
through the various obstacles, with the emphasis
usually on teamwork. The competition is run over
two days with the teams camping at Beatrice
Country Club. The country club ladies do all the
catering for the weekend leaving the often very
tired and dirty competitors to concentrate on
    their vehicles.

11
The Harare 4 x 4 Jamboree
  • The Harare Jamboree is an international
competition run over two days at The 4 x 4 club
site at Donnybrook. Teams consist of 1 vehicle
with a driver and navigator. The courses consist
of a series of red and white canes and teams must
navigate their way through each course keeping
the red cane on the right and the white cane on
the left. Penalty points are awarded for
touching or knocking down a cane, reversing,
failure to wear seat belts and outside
    assistance.
  • The vehicle in this picture belongs to Roger
Barry who was the overall winner of the 2006
    Jamboree
