• This is a bulk deal project delivering
  approximately 50 discount
• Administration, Purchase, Communication and
  Installation are all done in bulk to make these
  savings
• Communication is done by email except for
  installation scheduling

Grid Connected Solar Installations

• DC Electricity is produced by solar panels on
  roof
• DC is converted into AC by the Inverter
• The Inverter directly supplies solar power to
  your houses electricity loads
• Solar electricity used in your house reduces your
  bill
• Excess electricity is sold to the grid via a new
  bi-directional electricity meter

Equipment

• We use German inverters (SMA and Fronius) with
  5-10 year warranty
• We use one of the following panels with 25 year
  warranty
• Suntech
• Solarworld
• Enertech
• BP Solar

Grid Connected Solar Installations

• 1kW of solar panels on your roof will produce
  around 1500kWh/year, or 4kWh/day
• At todays prices this is worth 200/year for
  coal power or 300 for Greenpower
• This will save 1.5 tonnes CO2 per year
• 1kW of panels occupies 8m2 of roof space
• The average home in NSW (over)uses electricity to
  a total of 20kWh/day

Energy Efficiency and other environmental
considerations

• The cleanest and cheapest way to help the
  environment is to use less electricity
• Wed like to see CAN members using power wisely
  and can help out with halogen downlight
  replacements, remote operated power points,
  insulation, solar hot water, electric bikes etc
• We recommend you continue to buy Greenpower even
  with solar panels

Govt Paperwork Process

• Govt requires you to sign the rebate application
  (preapproval) and to supply a rates notice and
  both sides drivers license
• Energy Australia or Country Energy requires some
  paperwork for which we need your bill or your NMI
• Govt preapproval takes around 6 weeks
• Preapproval lasts 9 months, installation will
  happen before approval expires

Our Paperwork Process

• 1 - Apply for an installation with us (here
  tonight)
• fill in the front of your folder
• fill in your customer agreement form
• fill in page 2 and 6 of the preapproval
  form
• if youre in country energy area, fill in
  the Grid Connection Application
• Well send your applications off this week and
  your rebate should be approved in about 2 months
• You and I will both receive your approval, no
  need to contact me, just keep your approval
  letter safe
• At various points you will receive an email from
  us.
• There is no personal contact options available in
  this project except through the forum!

Installation Process

• Your installation may take place several months
  after your approval is received. We will contact
  you about installation times. If you cannot be
  there, leave a key and the signed approval letter
  in the unlocked meter box.

Installation Process

• We are a very good team and are accustomed to
  installing large numbers of systems
• We will take around 2-4 hours to complete your
  installation.
• We require access to your ceiling space through a
  manhole and power
• We will make some noise with
  power tools
• You will lose power to the
  house for around 5-30 minutes

• You can help us by
• Making sure you make the time or leave a key
• Keeping the manhole completely clear of desks,
  shelves, bikes etc
• Leaving access for our van to get as close to
  your roof access as possible
• Preparing a power cord or outlet near the meter
  box
• Being as friendly as our installers
• We love cool drinks, sweets and finger food

CAN payment

• CAN will receive 66 for every solar system we
  install in this program.
• This is to cover the inevitable increase in
  volunteer workload from running this program and
  to enable them to run other great programs
• However, all enquiries should be directed to
  Sydney Energy Cooperative so that CAN can
  continue to do its good work. Besides, we know
  all the answers ?

Costs

• The basic cost is 9400 with RECs and rebates
  assigned to Sydney Energy Cooperative.
• If you are eligible for the Federal Govt rebate
  (household taxable income lt100k, home owner and
  occupier) you will receive 8000 rebate
  approximately 8 weeks after installation
• Some houses require more expensive equipment or
  longer installation time. The extra costs are
  listed on your install agreements. Please fill
  these out as accurately as possible. We use them
  to prepare for installations which affects our
  safety. The set extras are not negotiable.

Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)

• RECs can be created by you when your system is
  installed. We sell these for you and you get a
  discount on your system
• The quoted prices assume you will let us sell
  your RECs
• Your RECs sell for 1000/kW. You can keep your
  RECs by paying this money to us.

  all aspects of your installation, there are
  certain factors outside our control

Variations

• If anything changes, you will be given notice and
  opportunity to cancel your order before any money
  is paid
• Potential changes could be panel type, inverter
  type depending on supply and system cost,
  depending on exchange rate
• The best thing you can do to protect yourself
  against variations is to sign up asap
